Jess Your Corona Scores First Win Of The Season In Overnight Mixed Breed Derby

MALAD CITY, ID–AUGUST 14, 2022–Scoring his first win of the season after settling as a finalist in three other stakes races this year, Jess Your Corona wins the second of two Overnight Mixed Breed Derbys (not black type) on Sunday at Oneida County Fair. 

Breaking second from the four hole, Jess Your Corona, ridden by Rayan Juarez, picks up pace for a strong driving finish over Bw Randees Royal. The post-time favorite by Daguerre clocked an 84 speed index in :15.807 seconds against a 4 mph crosswind in the 300-yard stakes race.

Jess Your Corona has banked $17,520 for owner Efrain Acosta. The Cesar Luna trained gelding out of the Stoli mare Stoli Your Corona is bred by BnB Racing LLC and R Broderick of Utah.

Runner-up Bw Randees Royal made a game effort for the wire but was beat by a neck clocking an 82 speed index in :15.867. Trained by Glen Jamison, the gray filly has lit the board in every out this season for owner Maria Baltodano. 

Bred by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks, Bw Randees Royal is out of Bw Randee Roma by Ettaduino. 

Ekg Shezthelastdash, guided by Oscar Villa, made an even bid for third. Owned and trained by Pedro Ledesma-Garcia, the daughter of Heza Fast Dash is out of Jf Brenda Patriot by Jet Black Patriot. She is bred by Dina Duplantis, Dvm of Louisiana.

The remaining order of finish is Mooner, Runnin Wave and Gw Snow Jet.

Due to inclement weather, the Oneida County Derby trials were cancelled on August 7, so to take care of all the horses who entered, two derbies were held.
