Chicks Dashin Bandit Wins Five Livestock Company-Rod Mills Memorial Derby on Sunday

JEROME ID–JUNE 19, 2022– Second fastest qualifier Chicks Dashin Bandit turned the table on his rivals Sunday by posting a one-length win in the $15,337 Five Livestock Company-Rod Mills Memorial Derby.

Under jockey Pedro Gonzalez, Chicks Dashin Bandit was a wire-to-wire winner while completing the 350 yards in :17.671 seconds, a 99 speed index with a 20 mph tailwind. It was the fourth career win in nine starts for the son of multiple stakes sire Coronas Fast Dash.

Ramiro Fregoso trains the Idaho homebred for owner-breeder Five Livestock Company LLC. Bred from the Spit Curl Jess mare First Prize Chicks, Chicks Dashin Bandit used the $7,512 winners' purse to boost his earnings mark to $20,560.  He won the Oneida County Quarter Horse Futurity last year.

With a steady effort under jockey Jose Borbonio, Im Perky finished second to earn $3,208 for owner-trainer Sergio Ryes.  Edward C. Allred bred the daughter of multiple stakes sire Separate interest from the Walk Thru Fire mare Perky. He has earned $10,808 in eight career starts.

Trainer Cesar Luna sent out Jess Your Corona to finish a neck back in third. The son of Daguerre from the Stoli mare Stoli Your Corona races for owner Efrain Acosta. BNB Racing LLC and R. Broderick is the breeder and Luis Delgado had the riding call. The multiple stakes-placed Utah-bred 3-year-old earned $1,565 for the effort.

Fastest qualifier Richie Rich 1 was fourth followed by Looknforharry, Blitz Chick and Ja Wild Panama.
