Kool Jerry Impresses With Fastest Time In Big G 89 & Under All-Breed Allowance Trials on Sunday

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—MAY 16, 2021—Coming off a third-place finish in the BNB Maiden Frolic on April 18th, Kool Jerry raced to the fastest qualifying time for the Big G 89 & Under All-Breed Allowance Sunday afternoon at Laurel Brown Racetrack.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Utah racetrack on Saturday, May 29th to vie for the winner's share of an $29,530 purse going 350 yards.

Kool Jerry was a gate-to-wire winner under jockey Jesus Canales in the opening trial to post a 1-½ length win over fellow qualifier Set Forth. His time of :17.467 seconds equaled a 101 speed index was the fastest from the three trial races. Trainer Sergio Canales conditions the 3-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Paint Me Perry for owner Casey Whitaker.

Bred in Utah by Kent McKell, from the Striking Distance mare A Striking Chick, Kool Jerry has compiled an (8) 2-1-2 record and earned $9,868. He was also fourth in the John Deere Pocatello Downs Juvenile and a finalist in the Utah Bred Futurity last year.

Making just her second lifetime start, Fancy Mamasita broke her maiden in the final trial to get the second fastest time of :17.540 seconds, a 98 speed index. Under jockey Julian Zavala the bay daughter multiple stakes sire Pappasito broke in at the start then rallied to win by one-length.

Adrian Zavala trains the Utah-bred filly from the Fly Jess Fly mare Miss Fying Jessie for owner-breeder Miguel Lopez. In her career debut, a trial for the BNB Maiden Frolic April 18th, she finished fourth.

Trainer Jay Pitcher sent our Winning Blood Mv to win the second trial for owners Kyle and Kelly Cook. Under jockey Nakia Ramirez the son of leading third-crop sire Apollitical Blood defeated Heswatchingoveryou by a head to get the third fastest time of :17.584 seconds, a 97 speed index.

Bred in California by Paulo MacEdo, Winning Blood Mv stumbled at the start but rallied to get his second career win in nine starts. Out of the Separatist mare Take A Look, the sorrel gelding was finalist in the Bitterroot Futurity(G3) and Eye On Corona Virus Futurity last season. He has earned $10,915.
