Lynnder 16 Gets Second Straight Q-Racing Video Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge Win

SHAKOPOEE, MN—JULY 6, 2021—Lynnder 16, under jockey Edwin Escobedo, picked up her 13th career win Tuesday night while defending her title in the $38,615 Q-Racing Video Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge(G3) at Canterbury Park. The daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess defeated stablemate Apollitical Mogul by half-a-length.

Conditioned by trainer Jason Olmstead, Lynnder 16 completed the 400 yards on a "sloppy" sealed racing surface in :19.702 seconds, equaling a 103 speed index into a 6 mph crosswind. The $18,921 winner's purse brings the 5-year-old mares earnings total to $718,889.

Winner of last year's Grade 1 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship(G1) in Albuquerque, Lynnder 16 races for owners Tom Maher and Richard Tobin. James and Marilyn Helzer bred the multiple graded winner in Oklahoma from the Corona Cartel mare Tinys Corona Queen.

Lynnder 16's win tonight guarantees her a chance for a repeat performance in the Grade 1 $100,000-est. Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge Championship to be held again in Albuquerque on October 23rd. Last year she defeated Jr Prissys Blood and Loco Ocho in the $101,675 Grade 1 Championship.

Runner-up Apollitical Mogul is also owned by Maher and trained by Olmstead. Luis Valenzuela rode the Apolltical Jess 5-year-old out of Cash Cartel by Corona Cartel. The multiple graded stake-placed mare was bred in Texas by Mercy Hinklins Horse Farm LLC. A winner of eight races, Apollitical Mogul earned $8,109 to bring her earnings total to $168,334.

Paul Treadwell's Oklahoma homebred Lovepop finished 1-˝ lengths back to earn $4,055 for third. Clinton Crawford trains the daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon from the Shazoom mare Xoom. Berkley Packer was aboard the $25,309 earner.

Dark Moon, El Oh El, Dg Dreamer and Feature Finest Kind completed the field.
