CYPRESS, CA–JULY 16, 2026–PV Quarter Horse Farms’ explosive I Am Candy returns to the friendly Southern California confines this Saturday night at Los Alamitos, headlining a compact but highly competitive $13,000 allowance sprint at the lightning-fast distance of 110 yards.
After sweeping to victory in the Grade 3 Denim N Diamonds Handicap in February, the five-year-old mare traveled to Oklahoma, testing her mettle against elite competition in the Grade 2 Easy Date Stakes and the Grade 1 Junos Request Stakes at Remington Park.
Back under the Orange County stars and under the care of trainer Eddie Willis, she boasts an impressive career record of seven wins from 20 starts and stands as the undisputed class of the field. The Jess Good Candy homebred also won the Sound Dash Handicap last year.
However, the short-sprint specialist will have no room for error against some sharp local rivals. Main threats include The Lady Is A Vamp, a stakes-tested sophomore out of the Paul Jones barn who was a finalist in the Grade 1 Golden State Futurity and Grade 2 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity last year.
Also looming is the solid performer Ultra Shiny, who enters fresh off a hard-fought, runner-up effort in local allowance company on June 7. She has finished in the top three in nine of 16 career starts.
It promises to be a seven-second shootout where a perfect break is everything. Shadow Casting, Jazzy Girl, and CCR Sweetnseperate will complete the field.
