FARGO, ND–JULY 9, 2026–Friday evening racing at North Dakota Horse Park features a seven-race program starting at 6:00 p.m., with the spotlight on the $10,000 North Dakota Horse Park Mixed Futurity. A compact but competitive field of five 2-year-old Quarter Horses, Paints, and Appaloosas will sprint 300 yards in the fifth race, scheduled for about 8:00 p.m.
Trainer Robert Don Johnson holds a strong hand in the featured event, saddling the top two morning-line choices. Leading the way is 7-5 favorite Jess Seaside, a filly looking to rebound from a troubled effort at Prairie Meadows, where she broke awkwardly and was slow to get into stride. Prior to that outing, she broke her maiden impressively in her second career start, winning by a length and showing the talent that makes her the one to beat.
The daughter of Mr. Jess Perry is out of the First Down Dash mare Seaside and was bred in Louisiana by Grant Farms, LLC. Racing for Double Down Racing, she was a $32,000 purchase at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Johnson will send her from post five with jockey Kody Kellenberger aboard.
Johnson's second starter, Bhr Winning Streak, is listed at 5-2, the second choice. Although still seeking her first victory, the filly showed promise by finishing third in her career debut. After shipping to North Dakota Horse Park, she will look to take another step forward while attempting to upset her favored stablemate.
The daughter of Streakin Executive is out of the First Down Mr Jess mare Bhr Miss Jessie Winz, bred in South Dakota by Broken Heart Ranch. She races for Double H Quarter Horses, LLC, and will break from post three under jockey Scott A. Bethke.
Trainer Mark Allery will also be well represented by a pair of runners. Jes a Darling draws the rail as the 7-2 third choice on the morning line, while Bodacious Fast Prize starts from post two at 8-1 odds.
Completing the lineup is Lethal Rita, owned by Tom Mahers and trained by Tyler Stein. The 4-1 morning-line favorite ships in, looking to make her presence felt against the talented field.
While the field may be small, the competition is expected to be fierce as five promising juveniles line up for the 300-yard dash in the $10,000 North Dakota Horse Park Mixed Futurity, which is one of the most anticipated races on Friday evening's card.
