The featured tenth race brings together the ten fastest two-year-olds from the June 6 trial heats for the $143,580 Restricted Grade 2 Garañones Futurity Final. The field will race 300 yards, with a scheduled post time of approximately 7:00 p.m.
Dk Tsunami Cartel has been installed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite following an impressive trial victory. The colt drew away to win by three lengths and recorded the second-fastest qualifying time. Earlier this season, he qualified for the Mexico Futurity but was disqualified after racing green. He answered those questions with a polished performance in the trials and now looks to earn his biggest career victory.
The son of Danny Cartel is out of the Good Reason SA mare Jess A Reason V and was bred in Mexico by Cuadra La Presita. He races for Cuadra San Martin and is conditioned by Luis Enrique Cruz Solis. Breaking from post ten, he will be ridden by Nestor Duran.
Dk Paleta Dulce is the 7-2 second choice after posting the fastest qualifying time with a one-length trial victory. She also qualified for the Mexico Futurity earlier this season, where she finished fifth. The filly has won two of her three career starts, earning $14,847 for owner Cuadra Alpuyeca.
The daughter of Danny Cartel is out of the Jess Good Candy mare Good First Choice and was also bred by Cuadra La Presita. Antonio Garcia Carranza sends her out from post six, with Alejandro Gomez Lopez named to ride.
The ninth race features the $86,809 Subasta Selecta Derby, where ten three-year-olds returning from the June 14 trial heats to compete over 400 yards, with an approximate post time of 6:30 p.m.
Fritz tops the field as the 5-2 morning-line favorite after recording the fastest qualifying time and winning his trial by three-quarters of a length. The colt was a multiple stakes finalist during his juvenile campaign, including appearances in the Mexican Breeders Futurity and the Subasta Selecta Futurity. He has won five of 12 career starts, banking $42,000 for owner Cuadra Tarascos.
Bred by Rachaun Suarez, the son of Fearless Fritz is out of the Tres Seis mare Bv Why Me. Trainer Gregorio Alberto Razo Parra will saddle the colt from post four, with Jesus Loredo aboard.
With championship races for both juveniles and sophomores, Sunday's program brings together many of Mexico's top Quarter Horses. Strong trial winners, proven stakes performers, and rising young stars will make for a competitive night of racing, likely delivering exciting finishes and plenty of opportunities for racing fans and handicappers alike.
