MEXICO CITY, MEX–JUNE 12, 2026–The Sunday evening program at Hipódromo de las Américas will feature an exciting eleven-race card highlighted by the Derby Subasta Selecta Trials in races eight and nine. Nineteen talented 3-year-olds will compete over 400 yards in two trial heats, with only the ten fastest qualifiers earning a coveted berth in the June 28 Derby Subasta Selecta Finals, which offers a purse of $86,047.
The opening trial in race eight features Kc Shes Cartel as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The accomplished filly enters off a victory on April 26, when she defeated allowance company by a half-length. During her juvenile campaign, she established herself among the top runners of her generation by posting the fastest qualifying time for the Mexican Breeders Futurity, then returned to finish third in the final. She also earned a berth in the Futurity Subasta Selecta.
Racing for Cuadra Las Vegas, Kc Shes Cartel has compiled an impressive record of four wins, two seconds, and one third in ten career starts, earning $55,810. The filly is sired by Krash Cartel and out of the Shes Tough Enough mare by Apollitical Jess. Bred in Mexico by Abelardo F. Gallegos, she is conditioned by Angel G. Magdaleno and will break from post eight under jockey Arturo Vega Moreno as she attempts to secure a place in the championship final.
The second and final trial in race nine will feature stablemate Vicky Krash, who also enters as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The promising filly has already shown her quality this season by qualifying for the Derby Garanones. In just five career starts, she has recorded two victories and two runner-up finishes, earning $13,179 for Cuadra Las Vegas.
Vicky Krash is another daughter of Krash Cartel, out of the U R My Queen mare by Walk Thru Fire. Bred in Mexico by Abelardo Gallegos and trained by Angel G. Magdaleno, she will start from the rail under jockey Alejandro Gomez Lopez as she looks to punch her ticket to the lucrative final.
With nineteen talented sophomores vying for a spot in one of Mexico's premier summer racing events, the Derby Subasta Selecta Trials promise plenty of excitement. Every stride will matter as the contenders race for a place in the June 28 final, a prestigious event hosted by the Mexican Quarter Horse Breeders and Owners Association. Fans and bettors can expect a competitive and memorable evening as the road to the Derby Subasta Selecta championship reaches a crucial stage.
