SUNLAND PARK, NM–JANUARY 27, 2026—The Saturday program at Sunland Park will feature a competitive nine-race card highlighted by three stakes races: the $60,000 Lonnie and Candy Elam Memorial Stakes, the Grade 1 $350,000 Championship At Sunland Park Stakes, and the GII $188,490 Shue Fly Finals.
The ninth race on the Saturday card at Sunland Park will showcase ten talented three-year-olds who qualified through the January 10 trial heats to the Grade 2 $188,490 Shue Fly Finals. The championship event is set to be contested at 400 yards at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Pour Me a Drinkk enters as the 3-1 morning-line favorite after posting the second-fastest qualifying time with a decisive trial victory. The gelding owns four career wins, highlighted by a triumph in the Grade 2 $314,000 New Mexico Classic Futurity, and has earned $191,352 for owners Fred I. Danley and Bob McClure.
Sired by Prospect to the Top and out of First Cowgirl Flash by First Moonflash, Pour Me a Drinkk was bred by his trainer and part-owner Fred Danley. He will break from post four with James A. Flores returning in the irons.
The fastest qualifier, Sure Hit, is listed at 4-1 on the morning line. The gelding captured his trial heat in sharp fashion and enters the final as a four-time trial winner. During his two-year-old season, he secured two graded stakes qualifications and has earned $96,383 for owners Chris Lykins, Conda Maze, and Downtime Enterprises, LLC., who purchased him for $26,000 at the Ruidoso New Mexico Select Yearling Sale.
Sure Hit is sired by Jet Black Patriot and out of Merchant of Hope (TB) by Bayern (TB). Bred in New Mexico by Bryan and Megan Petty, he is conditioned by Clinton Crawford and will start from post eight with Jacob Enriquez back aboard.
With the ten fastest qualifiers set to line up at 400 yards, the GII $188,490 Shue Fly Finals promises an exciting and competitive conclusion to the afternoon’s stakes action.
Earlier on the card, the seventh race will feature the $60,000 Lonnie and Candy Elam Memorial Stakes, where eight New Mexico-bred runners will contest the demanding 870-yard distance around the hook. Post time is scheduled for approximately 3:04 p.m.
Leading the field is Mucho Zmoke, the 3-1 morning-line favorite, who has captured three consecutive races at the 870-yard distance. Drawing the outside post eight, the four-year-old gelding will look to use his early speed to secure position heading into the turn. He races for owners and breeders Curtis Crenwelge, Jim Laird, and Jose R. Espinosa.
Mucho Zmoke is sired by Kj Mucho Macho Man and out of Zoobie Cartel by Corona Cartel. He is trained by Wesley T. Giles and will be piloted by Francisco Amparan.
With the Elam Memorial Stakes opening the stakes action and the Shue Fly Finals closing the card, fans and bettors can look forward to a strong and competitive afternoon of New Mexico-bred and open stakes racing at Sunland Park.
