OPELOUSAS, LA–DECEMBER 16, 2025–The $1,000,000 LQHBA Louisiana Million (RG1) is the featured event on the Saturday night card at Evangeline Downs. The race over the distance of 400 yards is the main event on a card stacked with 12 stake races.
Rf Fast Dash N Blood has a chance to become racing’s newest millionaire with a win in the Million. A winner of three futurity finals, and seven straight races, Rf Fast Dash N Blood was tabbed as the 5/2 morning line favorite. Jockey Jorge Javier Garcia gets the call for trainer Josue Ponce and will break from post eight.
San Lorenzo Bossman set the fastest time in the Million trials, is second on the morning line at 3-1, and will break from post 10. Leonardo Rodriguez is the regular rider for the Juan Garcia charge and owner Rogelio Marquez, Jr. looks to win the biggest prize for the second consecutive year. Luziana Man, second to Rf Fast Dash N Blood in all three trial finals, and Marcy Train B are trial heat winners with solid chances as well.
The $144,000 LQHBA Breeders Derby could be one of the best races of the night. Gold Gun Z defeated 2024 Million winner San Lorenzo Chrome in the trials, the first race of 2025 for San Lorenzo Chrome. Moneys On was a decisive winner of the other trial heat and could pose the biggest threat to the top pair. The derby, at the distance of 400 yards, is race seven.
The $307,955 EVD Futurity at 400 yards kicks off the late double into the Million as race 11 on the card. Feenom was impressive in his trial heat victory and is the morning line 5/2 favorite. Jlc Show Time, a convincing winner in her trial heat as well, is the second-choice at 7/2. Other challengers in what appears to be an evenly matched group include Remarkable Cowgirl, Prime Time Lelo and Jamies Sin Tacha.
The remainder of the stakes bonanza for the closing night card starts with the $25,000 EVD 870 as the 4:00pm opener. The $25,000 EVD Juvenile and $50,000 LQHBA Million Invitational are consolation races for runners that did not make the finals of the EVD Futurity or the Million. The $131,000 LQHBA Breeders Oaks, $40,000 Laverne Perry. $121,060 EVD Derby and three Louisiana Champions Day races round out the slate.
The final Family Night of the season will take place Saturday. Face painting, a magician and arts and crafts for the kids will make for a fun addition to the evening.
LQHBA will be sponsoring a $25,000 scholarship giveaway, with six $2,500 and two $5,000 gifts to be awarded in a random drawing. Registration begins at 4:00pm at the table located in the grandstand on the main floor and closes after the sixth race. Louisiana high school seniors graduating in 2025-26, or students currently enrolled at a Louisiana college or university are eligible. The drawings will take place after the seventh and ninth races (approx. times of 6:30 and 7:30pm) and entrants must be present to win.
