Lechero Headlines Field In Friday’s $30,000 Ochoa Stakes At Lone Star Park

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–NOVEMBER 10, 2025Friday evening’s twelve-race card at Lone Star Park will be highlighted by the running of the $30,000 Guaranteed Ochoa Stakes, featuring a competitive field of Texas-accredited bred two-year-olds. The stakes event is slated as the eleventh race on the program, set to go 350 yards at approximately 10:25 PM.

Leading the field as the 3-1 morning-line favorite is Lechero, a promising colt by This Is an Eagle out of Bp Painted Valentine by Pyc Paint Your Wagon. Bred in Texas by John McKee, Lechero was purchased for $16,000 by owner Bertha A. Martinez at the TQHA Yearling Sale.

Trained by Francisco Perez Jr., the colt has started seven times, finishing on the board in three of those outings and earning $15,664. He will break from post seven under jockey Jose E. Villarreal.

Second choice on the morning line at 7-2 is Sheza a Whirlawaytoo, a consistent filly who has finished second in her last four consecutive starts. From six career starts, she has earned $11,500 and continues to show steady improvement.

Sired by Whirlaway Red and out of Lil Miss Party Doll by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, she was bred in Texas by Buckskin EC Inc. and races for owner Ann Albin. Trainer Jeffery Charles Brooks will saddle the filly, with H. J. Hernandez set to ride from post nine as she seeks her first career victory.

A full field of ten Texas-bred juveniles will line up for the $30,000 Guaranteed Ochoa Stakes, promising a thrilling showcase of young local talent. With competitive fields and rising stars, Friday night’s card at Lone Star Park is set to deliver another exciting evening of Quarter Horse racing under the lights.
