GRANDPRAIRIE, TX–OCTOBER 30, 2025—Saturday night’s twelve-race program at Lone Star Park promises a showcase of top Texas-bred Quarter Horses, highlighted by two $50,000 stakes events—the Lone Star Park Distance Championship, contested at 870 yards, and the Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes, set for 400 yards and restricted to fillies and mares. Both feature competitive fields filled with proven class and regional talent.

The Lone Star Park Distance Championship is set as race nine with a post time scheduled for 9:50 PM and features a field of eight long-distance specialists. The 7-5 morning line favorite, Gjr Rooster, breaks from post three and enters as the horse to beat. The four-year-old gelding, sired by This Is an Eagle and out of Granny Grump (TB) by A Little Illegal (TB), was bred in Texas by Gerald Rich.

Purchased for $15,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale, he now races for Richard Young, Joe David Yates, and Zack Stinebaugh under the care of trainer Zackary Stinebaugh. A proven competitor around the hook, Gjr Rooster will be guided by leading rider Francisco Calderon as he looks to add another stakes victory to his résumé.

Second choice on the morning line at 5-2 is Eye Will Decide, a durable seven-year-old gelding who continues to show consistency over extended distances. The Majestic Cartel son, out of Valiant Lil Lady (by Valiant Hero), is a Texas homebred for Bryon Gardner. Boasting seven wins and eight runner-up finishes, he has earned $190,440 in his career.

Adan Guzman trains the veteran, who will break from post seven under Noe Villatoro. With multiple graded stakes winners lining up, this year’s Distance Championship is expected to deliver a fast and hard-fought stretch run over 870 yards.

The Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes, slated as race eleven at approximately 10:42 PM, brings together a field of nine fillies and mares set to sprint 400 yards.

Favored at 5-2 on the morning line is Jess Louisiana Girl, a three-year-old filly by Chilitos out of The Louisiana Cartel, bred in Texas by Anahi Martinez. She races in the colors of Eleazar Martinez Sr. and has shown steady form throughout her young career, compiling two wins, four seconds, and three thirds from fourteen starts, with earnings of $73,661. Victor G. Fierro trains the filly, who will start from post six under jockey Claudio P. Aguilar.

Challenging her as the second morning line choice is Embers Time, a three-year-old filly by Pyc Prize Time out of Fancy Embrujos (by Embrujo Fg). Bred in Texas by Alejandro Moya, she races for Javier Lujan, who purchased her for $5,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale. Trained by Martin Rodriguez, she will start from post five with Francisco Giles aboard.

With full, competitive fields and strong local connections, Saturday’s twin features promise to deliver thrilling finishes. Fans and bettors alike can expect a night of high-quality racing under the lights at Lone Star Park as Texas-bred talent takes center stage in the Lone Star Park Distance Championship and the Yellow Rose of Texas Stakes.
