ALBUQUERQUE, NM–OCTOBER 23, 2025—The Sunday race card at Albuquerque Downs will feature nine races, highlighted by the $50,000 Champagne Lane Stakes in race five. The event will showcase some of the top Registered New Mexico-bred fillies and mares competing over 350 yards.
Chicka Boom Babe headlines the field as the 3-1 morning-line favorite. The accomplished mare returns to New Mexico following a tough outing in the $75,000 Grade 3 Abigail Kawananakoa Stakes, but she has since posted a sharp 220-yard workout, signaling her readiness. A winner of five races with five runner-up finishes, Chicka Boom Babe has earned $273,147 to date.
Sired by Chicks Regard and out of Riverside Babe by First Moonflash, Chicka Boom Babe was bred in New Mexico by Ivey Cattle Co. She races for Robert M. Driggers and Ben Lee Ivey, under the conditioning of Wesley T. Giles. She will break from post position one with Noe Garcia Jr. aboard.
The second choice at 4-1 is Jess Daddys Girl, a four-year-old mare by Big Daddy Cartel out of Jess a Ten by Feature Mr Jess. Bred in New Mexico by Julian Quintana, she races for One Time Racing Stables, LLC, with career earnings of $45,565 from two wins and two seconds. Trainer Omar Acosta will saddle the mare, who starts from post position six with Raul Ortega in the irons.
A full field of ten fillies and mares, plus two also-eligible entrants, is scheduled to contest the 350-yard Champagne Lane Stakes, with a post time of 3:10 p.m. on Sunday at Albuquerque Downs.
The Albuquerque Downs races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
