CLAREMORE, OK–OCTOBER 11, 2025Sunday afternoon racing at Will Rogers Downs promises high-stakes excitement, with a competitive ten-race card headlined by the $30,000 guaranteed Miss Ellen Stakes, set as Race 9 on the day’s program. The feature will showcase a full field of accomplished fillies and mares sprinting 350 yards, with post time scheduled for approximately 4:20 PM (CT).

Among the standout entries is As Moonflash, the 2-1 morning line favorite and one of the region’s premier older mares. The 4-year-old daughter of First Moonflash, out of As and Js (by Apollitical Jess), has compiled an impressive résumé, boasting five wins from eight starts, including multiple graded stakes victories.

Bred in Oklahoma by Leonardo Alcala, As Moonflash is trained by her breeder and races in the silks of owner Marisol Alvarado. She enters this race in peak form, having recently captured both the $55,000 G3 Retama Championship Challenge Stakes and the $47,000 Selma Stakes. She will break from post position two under leading rider Juan Pulido.

Her chief rival may be the ultra-consistent Just a Flying Cowgirl, listed at 4-1 on the morning line. Trained by Joe M. Davis for McGehee Horse and Cattle, LLC, this 5-time winner has banked over $104,000 in career earnings.

The Texas-bred mare by Flying Cowboy 123, out of Just Another Natural (by Furyofthewind), comes off a sharp runner-up effort in the $101,000 Sweetwater Downs Maturity. She draws post position three and will be guided by Edwin G. Escobedo.

With a full field of ten entered—including multiple graded stakes performers—the Miss Ellen Stakes promises a thrilling showdown for fans and bettors alike. The race is expected to go off around 4:20 PM, following the undercard that begins at 1:00 PM.

The Will Rogers Downs races can be watched on Q-Racing Video.
