Arapahoe Sunday Stakes Spotlight: Lucille Rowe Derby And Cherry Creek Futurity

AURORA, CO–OCTOBER 10, 2025—The Sunday afternoon program at Arapahoe Park will feature a seven-race card capped by two of the biggest races of the Colorado season: the $67,000-added Lucille Rowe Derby Final and the $98,000-added Cherry Creek Futurity Final. With top-tier state-bred contenders vying for late-season stakes honors, both races promise high drama and high velocity over the 350-yard distance.

Race six will showcase the ten fastest qualifiers from the September 26th trial heats for the Lucille Rowe Derby Final, set for a 3:05 PM post.

Topping the field as the even-money (1-1) morning line favorite is Sheza Fearless Eagle, who impressed in her trial performance with a three-length victory—the fastest of the day. The three-year-old filly has proven her class throughout her Derby campaign, earning berths in both the $301,000 (G2) Heritage Place Oaks and the $703,000 (G1) All American Oaks, establishing herself as a legitimate contender at the national level.

Sheza Fearless Eagle is a daughter of One Fabulous Eagle, out of the Tres Seis mare Ima Fearless Fire. She was bred in Colorado by Jill and Vaughn Cook and races for owner Jill Cook. She will leave from post eight under jockey Mauro J. Rodriguez, with Fernando Manriquez handling the training duties.

Also entered is her stablemate Chico Fabuloso, the second choice on the morning line at 2-1 odds. Like the favorite, Chico Fabuloso is also by One Fabulous Eagle, and is out of Sheza Miracle Chico, a daughter of Dean Miracle. He was bred in Colorado by Martin Olmedo Lopez and races under the same connections, with owner-trainer Fernando Manriquez looking to sweep the top two positions in this competitive final. The matchup between barnmates adds another layer of intrigue to an already exciting race.

Following the Derby Final, the finale of the card will feature the $98,000-added Cherry Creek Futurity Final, bringing together the ten fastest two-year-olds from the September 26th trials. A deep and talented group of juveniles will line up, with plenty of promise and early-career potential on display.

Installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite is Heirloom Ivory, a gelding who had a less-than-ideal start in the trials but showed heart and acceleration to recover and finish second, earning the fifth-fastest qualifying time overall.

Sired by Flare for Ivory and out of Shinning Bianca by One Handsome Man, Heirloom Ivory was bred in Colorado by Sierra Hugo Barron and will carry the silks of Barron Racing, LLC. Jose Manuel Barron trains him and will break from post position eight under jockey Martin Lazalde.

Among his top challengers is Dream Flyer, a progressive filly entering the final with two wins from three starts, including back-to-back victories heading into this race. She has earned $6,280 to date and will look to extend her streak from the outside in post ten.

Dream Flyer is a homebred for owner Jose Dorado Garcia, by Dreamnon and out of One Flying Rose by One Sweet Jess. She is trained by Abraham Felix and will be ridden by Valente Vorrath, aiming for her third straight win in what would be a signature triumph to close her two-year-old season.

With the Lucille Rowe Derby and Cherry Creek Futurity drawing deep, competitive fields and featuring a mix of proven stakes runners and rising stars, Sunday afternoon at Arapahoe Park promises to deliver a thrilling conclusion to the meet. For Colorado-bred Quarter Horse racing fans, it’s a can't-miss day filled with talent, speed, and championship ambition.
