SHELBYVILLE, IN.–AUGUST 26, 2025–Wednesday afternoon at Horseshoe Indianapolis, the spotlight will shine on the Escondido Beach Overnight Stakes, run in memory of the recent passing of the influential Indiana stallion, Escondido Beach. A field of ten Indiana-breds will line up in race nine, covering 350 yards for a $34,000 added purse, with a scheduled post time of 6:15 p.m.

Headlining the field is Streakindownthebeach, a seasoned five-year-old gelding who finished runner-up in this same race last year. Known for his remarkable consistency, he has visited the winner’s circle seven times, along with six seconds and seven thirds from 28 career starts, amassing $191,707 in earnings.

The gelding was purchased for $26,750 from the QHRAI Speed Sale. He races for owner Buddy Presley and was bred in Indiana by Edward A. Pennington. The son of Habits Secret out of Beach Runner (by Escondido Beach), Streakindownthebeach will break from post eight under the care of trainer Tim Eggleston, with regular rider Luis E. Luna-Diaz aboard.

The top earner in the field and second choice on the morning line at 5-2 is Tachas Secret, a five-year-old mare with an accomplished résumé. She has captured eleven wins, five runner-up efforts and one third-place finish, banking an impressive $442,766 for Duke Racing, LLC.

Also sired by Habits Secret, she is out of Sin Tachas Angel by PYC Paint Your Wagon. Both bred and trained in Indiana by Ricardo Martinez, she will start from post seven with her regular rider, Fernando Morin, in the irons.

With two proven veterans leading the way and a talented supporting cast filling out the field, the Escondido Beach Overnight Stakes promises to be a fitting tribute to the stallion who left a lasting mark on Indiana Quarter Horse racing.
