Top Contenders Set to Clash in $254,140 LQHBA Sale Futurity Trials Saturday at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA–AUGUST 7, 2025–Nine trials will be contested Saturday at Delta Downs to determine the ten fastest qualifiers for the $254,140 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) final set for August 30.

The 350-yard trials are restricted to accredited Louisiana-bred two-year-old Quarter Horses who passed through the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale.

First post time is 6:10 p.m. (CDT).

Rf Fast Dash N Blood headlines the evening in Race 6. The Apollitical Blood gelding has won four of six starts and earned $476,120 for owner Jaime Cardenas and trainer Miguel A. Castillo.

He captured both the $369,000 LQHBA Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2) and the $598,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1). Bred by Rogers Farm (Tim and Jennie Rogers), Rf Fast Dash N Blood was a $80,000 purchase at the LQHBA Yearling Sale. He returns under jockey Jorge Garcia after posting a victory in the Lee Berwick final.

Luziana Man, the 3-5 morning line favorite in Race 2, brings a strong resume to his trial. The Dominyun gelding, owned by Rosalio Espinosa and Jerry Deville Jr. and trained by Jose R. Espinosa, has compiled a 3-2-0 record from five starts with earnings of $165,539.

Luziana Man, a $13,500 purchase at the LQHBA Sale, was second by a nose in the Lee Berwick Futurity and won his trial with a 96 speed index. He was bred by Jerry West and will again be ridden by Noe Castaneda.

In Race 1, Marcy Train B returns to action for owner Jaime Cardenas and trainer Miguel Castillo. The Freighttrain B filly has won two of five starts and earned $130,172. Bred by Grant Farms, she captured the $244,000 Lassie Futurity (RG2) and finished third in her Lee Berwick trial. Purchased for $41,000, she’ll break from post 8 under jockey Jorge Garcia.

Ladies Cruz Higher is the 9-5 choice in Race 4. The Eagles Fly Higher filly, trained by Josue Huitron for owner J and Y Racing, has two wins from four starts and $52,754 in earnings.

She was bred by Janelle L. Simon and purchased for $6,000 at the sale. She won her Lassie trial with authority before finishing fifth in the Lassie final. Also a fourth in the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2), Leonardo Rodriguez retains the mount.

The ten fastest qualifiers from Saturday’s trials will return to Delta Downs on August 30 to compete in the 350-yard final of the LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1).
