LOS ALAMITOS, CA–JULY 25, 2025–A pair of trials to the $47,500 Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity will headline the nine-race program here on Sunday night. Horses cannot be claimed in the trials, but if they advance to the final on August 17, then they can be claimed for $16,000 each.

There have been some gems claimed in the final, including Show N Tell Cartel, who finished his juvenile campaign qualifying for the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity before winning the El Primero Del Año Derby in March.

Owners who enjoy playing the claiming game will certainly be keeping an eye on the trials. Top contenders in the first 350-yard heat include Rancho AA or Valentin Zamudio’s Finality, a gelding his connections claimed for $20,000 from Ed Allred on June 8. Jose Luis Valdez’s Val Fancy, who was fourth in her trial to the Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity, on April 19.

In the other heat, Allred’s Glendale Boy scored his maiden victory two races ago before returning to a good third against allowance rivals on June 29. First Class Cruise and Coronas Strawfinder, a pair of recent maiden winners, are among the other top runners in this trial.

The racing card also includes a solid allowance event for 2-year-olds slated as race six, featuring Fireworks Over Paris, who was second in the Kindergarten final. The Ryder Rite gelding was third in the Fred Scace in his most recent start and has hit the board in all four of his career starts. All seven starters here are winners at Los Alamitos.
