EVANSTON, WY–JULY 24, 2025–Wyoming Downs will showcase a full card of Quarter Horse racing this Saturday, headlined by ten trial heats for the $55,000 added Wyoming Downs Futurity. A total of 96 two-year-olds are entered, each seeking to qualify for one of just ten spots in the lucrative 350-yard final scheduled for Sunday, August 10.
Fooseylady enters as the 2-1 morning line favorite in Trial 8, bringing the strongest credentials in the ten-race lineup as the only stakes winner. She will be piloted by jockey Minor Arana.
A proven stakes performer, Fooseylady earned her black-type status with a decisive victory in the $67,000 Hadley-Giles Futurity at Weber Downs, where she also posted a sharp trial win. She has banked $20,664 to date with an undefeated record from two starts for owner and trainer Roberto Ortiz. The daughter of Foose is bred by Antonio Tinoco out of the mare Laazteca, by Ausual Suspect. Another strong contender is Billys Brandi, the 5-2 morning line favorite breaking from the five post in Race 1. He has earnings of $25,116 from four career starts, which include two wins and a notable fourth-place finish in the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile Stakes. His Remington trial win earlier this spring was followed by a successful trip to Energy Downs, where he qualified for the $246,000 Energy Downs Futurity.
Bred and owned by Bill Doenz, Billys Brandi is trained by Josh Taylor and will be ridden by Luis A. Valenzuela. The gelding is by Cyber Monday out of Ec Brandi, by Hes Relentless.
Entered in Trial 9 is You Got Litt Up, who will break from post position four as a 5-2 morning line favorite. The gelding holds the highest earnings in the field with $26,043 and owns a race record of four starts, one win, and two thirds. He was third in the $246,000 Energy Downs Futurity in his last out and a finalist in the $97,000 Beehive Futurity in April.
In Trial 2, Hez Gifted will break from post position nine as the 2-1 morning line favorite. The son of Genetically Gifted is bred and owned by Michael K. McKell of Utah and out of Girl Like, a daughter of Kiddy Up, He is trained by Sergio Canales and will be ridden by Jesus J. Canales.
With a record of four starts, including a win and two seconds, he has amassed $14,120 and proven himself against respectable company. Most notably, he was fourth in the $97,000 Beehive Futurity after finishing second in his trial. Most recently, he came within a neck of victory in an allowance at Pocatello Downs. A consistent finisher with competitive experience, Hez Gifted will be one to watch in the second heat of the day.
Another top contender to watch is Cgr Crooked Cowboy, a 5-2 morning line favorite set to compete in Race 6 from post position eight. The gelded son of Flying Cowboy 123 is trained by Riley Moosman and will be ridden by jockey Tyler Smith. He finished fourth in the $226,000 Wyoming-Bred Futurity earlier this month after posting a solid trial win to qualify. Bred by Chad R. Giles and owned by Giles and Terry Billings, Cgr Crooked Cowboy is out of Poormeadrinksherilyn by Volcom.
The trials are expected to be highly competitive, with each race contested over 350 yards. The top ten qualifiers from the day will advance to the Wyoming Downs Futurity final on August 10.
