EVANSTON, WY–JULY 20, 2025–An exciting afternoon of racing is set for Sunday at Wyoming Downs, where two feature stakes races will headline a competitive card: the $15,000-added Gary Waite Maiden Stakes (not black type) in Race Three, followed by the $17,000-added Ron Moosman Accredited Wyoming Bred Maturity in Race Four. With strong fields, seasoned conditioners, and emerging stars, the action promises high-caliber Quarter Horse competition in Evanston.

The Gary Waite Maiden Stakes, contested over 350 yards, brings together the ten fastest qualifiers from the July 4 trials. Leading the charge is Quick Creek, who clocked the fastest trial time with a determined, front-running performance. Sired by Conn Creek and out of Quickie In The Snow by Snowbound (TB), the three-year-old gelding has overcome tough early breaks in his career but seems to be hitting his stride this season.

Now with two wins in his 2025 campaign, Quick Creek enters in sharp form for owners Amy and Justin Davis. He breaks from post position two for trainer Calli Van Tassell Dominguez, with Gerardo Vera in the irons. A clean start could be all he needs to stamp himself as a stakes-caliber performer.

At 7-2 on the morning line is High Flying Cowgirl, a late-running filly who surged to win her trial with authority. By leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 and out of High Flying Val by Valiant Hero, she has shown maturity and grit for owners Billy R. Medlin and Kaylee Escobedo. Conditioned by Joe M. Davis and set to run in signature blue silks, Edwin G. Escobedo will guide her from a key mid-gate post as she seeks to close strongly in the final yards.

Post time for the Gary Waite Maiden Stakes is scheduled for 1:50 P.M.

Immediately following is the Ron Moosman Accredited Wyoming Bred Maturity, a 400-yard sprint showcasing ten of the highest-earning Wyoming-breds at time of entry. Leading the field is the ultra-consistent Yo Morning Delite, the 5-2 morning line favorite. A five-year-old gelding by Brindis Por Cayenne out of Rs Afternoon Delite, he has won an outstanding 17 races and banked $215,835 for breeder and owner Gerald F. Kaul.

Trained by Jess R. Matt, Yo Morning Delite continues to dominate the regional circuit. He’ll break from post six under regular rider Jacob Cardenas, looking to add another stakes title to his decorated résumé.

Second choice on the morning line is Jets Eyes (3-1), a lightly raced but talented four-year-old gelding by Ec Jet One out of Hawkinson. With just eight career starts, he boasts three wins, three seconds, and a third, having earned $61,182 for owner/trainer Kylie Valenzuela. His most recent effort was a razor-close second in the 2024 WABRA Wyoming Bred Derby. Fresh and dangerous, he’ll look to kick off his 2025 campaign in style from post position four with Jesus Valenzuela aboard.

The full field of top-tier Wyoming-breds will line up for the 400-yard dash, with post time for Race Four set for 2:15 P.M.
