SELMA, TX–JULY 11, 2025–Retama Park will be the center of Texas Quarter Horse racing on Saturday evening as it hosts the rescheduled TQHA Sale Futurity Trials, initially slated for July 3, 109 juveniles will line up across eleven trial heats, each vying for one of ten coveted spots in the restrcited Grade 1 TQHA Sale Futurity Finals on July 26, featuring a purse of $614,485 over 350 yards.

The first trial begins with Race 1 at approximately 6:15 P.M., headlined by Eagle On A June Bug, the 2-1 morning line favorite. Purchased for $20,000 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale, this promising gelding has already made his mark. He won his trial heat for the G2 Louisiana Downs Futurity and was a strong runner-up by just a half-length in the finals.

Bred by Sergio Jiminez and Enrique Santollo, Eagle On A June Bug is sired by first-crop sire Eagles Fly Higher out of Sandy June Bug. Trainer Victor Oviedo sends him out from post three with H.J. Hernandez aboard.

Another evening standout comes in Trial 3 with the undefeated Di Kvn Waven, the top earner with $158,955 banked. This filly by Kvn Corona out of Waven Bye Piloto won her trial and the G2 Louisiana Downs Futurity impressively, posting a 102 speed index. Purchased for $24,000 at the TQHA Sale by Refugio Alvarado, she is trained by Carlos Camarena and will break from post three under Oliver E. Martinez, aiming to set the night's fastest time.

Excitement peaks in the final trial, featuring a showdown between two elite juveniles. From post six at 2-1 odds is Full Moon Desire, a two-time winner including the G3 Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge Stakes. The filly, by Chilitos out of Mystical Desire, has earned $61,698. She was a bargain buy at $11,000 for Leviram Racing LLC., trained by Dimas Sanchez and will be ridden by Victor M. Urieta, Jr.

In that same heat, Wera C poses a formidable challenge. The Flying Cowboy 123 filly has won two of her three starts, including the Oklahoma Juvenile Stakes Finals, and narrowly missed qualifying for the Heritage Place Futurity. Owned by CH Horse Racing, LLC. and trained by Patrick L. Clemons, Wera C will break from post nine with Nestor Duran aboard.

With eleven full fields and dozens of well-bred juveniles with stakes experience, Saturday’s trials promise to deliver fireworks. The ten fastest horses from the evening’s heats will advance to the prestigious TQHA Sale Futurity Final on Saturday, July 26—a night that will crown the next big name in Texas Quarter Horse racing.
