Jess F Y I Tops Competitive Field in $84,000 Firecracker Futurity Friday Night At Grants Pass

GRANTS PASS, OR–July 3, 2025–A full field of ten juveniles will line up Friday night at Grants Pass in the $84,000 Firecracker Futurity, headlining the evening’s card as Race 7. The 300-yard dash brings together the ten fastest qualifiers from the June 15 trials, all looking to secure their first major stakes win.

Jess F Y I, the 5-2 morning-line favorite, leads the field, who posted the fastest qualifying time with a decisive 1 3/4-length win in his trial. The gelding broke cleanly and maintained a strong run through the wire. He is sired by Gold Heart Eagle V and out of Time to Splash Bac by Splash Bac. Bred and owned by Michael S. McKay, Jess F Y I is trained by Hector Magallanes and will break from post four under Jaime E. Lopez.

The second-fastest qualifier, Slreasonwithattitude, enters at 9-2. Despite a troubled start in her trial, the filly recovered well to win by a neck. She is by Good Candy P out of Lil Touch of Dixie (by Sixthirteen (TB)). Owned and trained by Sergio Leon, she drew post three with Erick M. De Luna set to ride.

With a short distance and a closely matched group, the $84,000 Firecracker Futurity is expected to come down to the break and finishing power. Post time is scheduled for approximately 3:30 PM local time.
