SHELBYVILLE, IN–JULY 1, 2025–A competitive field of older Quarter Horses will line up Wednesday evening for the $50,000 Bradford Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis, with a post time of 6:15 PM (EDT) for Race 9 on the program.

The race will be contested at 400 yards over the Indiana dirt surface, and it is open to three-year-olds and upward. Exacta, Trifecta, Superfecta, and the QH Only Grand High 5 wagering options will be offered for fans looking to take advantage of the full betting menu.

All eyes will be on the morning-line favorite, Tachas Secret, listed at 3-1. The five-year-old sorrel mare has been a consistent performer at Horseshoe Indianapolis and enters this spot for owners Duke Racing LLC, trainer Ricardo Martinez, and jockey Fernando Morin.

Bred in Indiana by Ricardo Martinez, Tachas Secret is by Habits Secret out of Sin Tachas Angel by PYC Paint Your Wagon. She boasts nine wins from twenty lifetime starts with over $362,000 in earnings, including five wins at the 400-yard distance.

Her recent form shows she remains in solid shape, finishing a close third in the $82,600 Born Runner Stakes on May 31 behind Nachor Secret and Streakindownthebeach after running second by a head in the Indiana Championship Stakes last fall.

She also captured the Bob Woodward Stakes and the Horseshoe Indianapolis Classic in 2024. If she breaks well and runs her race, she’ll be a formidable threat to add another stakes win to her impressive record.

Another top contender expected to draw attention is Relentlessly Special, who is the second choice on the morning line at 5-1. Owned by Lisa Cunningham and trained by Anthony F. Cunningham, the four-year-old sorrel gelding is bred in Oklahoma by Monty McNair.

He is by leading sire Hes Relentless out of Specialscountrychick by Country Chicks Man and will be ridden by Luz D. Martinez. Relentlessly Special has been a steady money earner with six wins in thirteen starts and lifetime earnings over $247,000, including four local victories at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

Earlier this year, he rallied strongly to win a $32,000 allowance at Sandy Ridge at The Red Mile and showed his determination when finishing on the board in the QHRAI Derby and multiple other stakes events last season. Although he has yet to find the winner’s circle at 400 yards, he’s been second twice and is proven at closing late when given a clear run.

The Bradford Stakes will be run over the same distance as the track record, a swift :19.32 set by Tommy the Train back in 2017. This stakes adds another competitive feature to a strong evening card for Indiana Quarter Horse racing, offering connections and bettors alike an opportunity to watch some of the best older sprinters in the region.

Fans can follow all the action live from Horseshoe Indianapolis as Tachas Secret and Relentlessly Special prepare to battle for a share of the $50,000 purse under the summer lights.
