EDMONTON, ALB–MAY 30, 2025–A promising group of Alberta-bred juveniles will take their first steps toward stardom Saturday evening at Century Mile, as two trial races for the Sales Stakes Futurity headline the early portion of the card.

Each 300-yard trial, offering a purse of $8,000, will help determine the field for the upcoming Futurity final. The 10 fastest qualifiers will return June 14 to vie for the winner's share of a $35,000-added (CAN) purse.

In the first trial, scheduled for a 4:45 pm (MDT) post time, the early attention centers on Jetset Candy, installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite. Trained and bred by Wesley Oulton, the Jess Good Candy filly is the only entrant in the field with racing experience.

She made her debut at Remington Park in April, facing a competitive maiden field and showing early interest before fading. Returning to home soil and facing fellow Alberta-breds for the first time, Jetset Candy could have a tactical edge. She has posted solid workouts since arriving at Century Mile, including a 220-yard breeze on May 4 that should set her up nicely for her local return.

Insta Bond, the 3-1 second choice, represents the Craig Smith barn, which has been clicking at an impressive 43% rate at the meet. This Ivory League colt out of Chick Gone Wild has shown significant promise in morning drills, particularly with a sharp gate move of :11.83 on May 24, the fastest of five recorded works that day. Owned and bred by Darby Danard, Insta Bond will be making his first career start.

Other contenders in the opening trial include She My Dulce Girl at 7-2, a daughter of leading first-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha from the Misael Moreno stable. She recorded a strong :12.34 workout on May 17 and appears to be rounding into form.

Snow Boss, listed at 5-1, hails from the Stockwell barn and comes into the race off two efficient drills that hint at readiness. Money Mouf, an 8-1 shot from trainer William Leech’s barn, also has a solid pedigree and could surprise if he breaks well.

The second trial, with a post time of 5:15 pm (MDT), features another Leech trainee, Cervezas Fire, who has been pegged as the 5-2 morning line favorite. The filly by Cerveza Corona turned in a quick :12.25 move on May 9 and enters off a series of steady drills that suggest she’s ready to fire.

Her barnmate, Chickazeta, drew the rail and is listed at 3-1. The daughter of First Down Leaving has also trained well locally, with two consistent May drills under her belt, and will be ridden by J.B. Botello, who has finished in the money in both his mounts so far this meet.

O Sawyer, trained and bred by Oulton, is the only runner in this field with previous race experience. He debuted at Remington Park on April 18 and finished sixth despite traffic trouble. Listed at 4-1, O Sawyer figures to benefit from that effort and looms a logical threat.

One Tough Cerveza, a gelding trained by Misael Moreno, is listed at 5-1 and posted a :12.58 work in preparation for his debut. Rounding out the field is Hez D Man, an 8-1 chance who has shown improving workout times and could be a sleeper if the pace breaks down.

The ten fastest times from these trials will earn spots in the lucrative Futurity final, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive showdown Saturday, June 14.
