Weber Downs Headlines Two Stakes On Saturday's Card

OGDEN, UT—MAY 28, 2025—The top ten qualifiers from the $38,970 UQHRA Maiden Frolic Stakes (not black type) and the $67,294 Hadley-Giles Futurity will face off on Saturday, May 31st at Weber Downs.

The eighth race of the afternoon will be host to the UQHRA Maiden Frolic Stakes, featuring the fastest qualifier, Shiza A Turbo, who will compete from the outside tenth position in the 330-yard sprint. This promising filly is out of Line in the Night, by Teller Cartel.

Shiza A Turbo enters the finals following a remarkable performance in her previous race, where she clinched victory, breaking her maiden by 1 1/4 lengths after a determined late charge. The daughter of Glock's trainer, Luis Ruiz, also owns her in partnership with Juan Antonio Ruiz. Jockey Julian Zavala will be riding her in the finals.

One Toxic Lady has secured her spot as the second fastest qualifier. This four-year-old mare triumphed in her trial heat with a narrow victory, edging out her closest competitor by a neck. With only five career starts, she is considered lightly raced, having finished off the board just once and accumulating earnings of $10,290.

The daughter of One Sweet Jess is out of Kj Streakin Jill, by Dash Ta Fame, One Toxic Lady, owned by Ivan Tovar and trained by Felix V. Tovar. She will take to the track from post eight, with jockey Ricardo Del Cid slated to ride her in the upcoming race.

The tenth race on the card is the $67,294 Hadley-Giles Futurity, showcasing the fastest qualifier, Fooseylady, who demonstrated remarkable speed in her trial, securing victory by an impressive margin of 2 3/4 lengths. Bred in Utah, Fooseylady is sired by Foose and out of the mare Laazteca by Ausual Suspect. Owned and trained by Roberto Ortiz, she will take the track from post four with Minor Arana in the saddle.

In an impressive display, Ojd Kali Sunrise has secured her position as the second fastest qualifier. This talented filly showcased her skills by winning her debut start in the trials with a commanding two-length lead. Sired by Jess Good Candy, she is out of Bugs Wagon, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

Ojd Kali Sunrise, owned by Oscar and Karla Diaz, will race from post position number two. Javier Fuentes conditions her and will be ridden by the experienced Jorge J. Garcia.

Each stakes event will feature a consolation race. The Maiden Frolic Stakes Consolation is scheduled as race seven, while the Hadley/Giles Futurity Consolation will take place right after the Futurity in race 10.
