GILLETTE, WY–MAY 16, 2025–Energy Downs will host an exciting day of racing on Sunday, May 18, as thirty-six horses compete in four 350-yard trial heats for the chance to qualify to the $25,000 Ron Cook Memorial Stakes final.
The opening trial, race two, features morning-line favorite Cg Dominyun Wood, owned by Gary Laramie and trained by Chad Giles. The four-year-old son of Dominyun looks to break his maiden after earning $4,177 over ten starts. He will start from post three with Jose J. Olivo riding.
Race three will showcase Interest In Ur Eyes, owned by Bernardo Chavez and trained by Jose Chavez. This four-year-old son of Seperate Interest has thirteen lifetime starts and earnings of $11,411, starting from post five with Valente Vorrath in the irons.
The third heat, in race four, includes As Kan Ye Run, owned by Aron Saenz and trained by Jorge Garfias. The son of Favorite Hat has finished in the top three in six of ten races, with earnings of $7,030. He will start from post eight, piloted by Juan C. Rivas.
Finally, race five features Corona Anyone, a gelding by Eye On Corona, who has two top-three finishes from three starts and seeks his maiden win. Owned by Hugo Villar and Loren Eggert, the three-year old is trained by Calli VanTassell Dominguez and will start from post two under Brayan Juarez.
The ten fastest qualifiers will compete in the Ron Cook Memorial Stakes final on June 1 for a chance to win the $25,000 added prize.
