MEXICO CITY, MEX–MAY 7, 2025–Two stakes races are scheduled for Sunday, May 11 at the Hipodromo de las Americas in Mexico City. The $17,600 Revelacion Classic will be race eight on the card, and the $53,700 Derby Garanones will close out the evening with race ten.
The first stakes of the night, the 35th annual Revelacion Classic, features seven three-year-old and older horses imported from the United States who have never won an added-money race.
The morning-line favorite Rg Lethal Knight will start from the inside with Huberclein Gomez riding at 2-1 early odds. This will be the first start of the season for the son of One Sweet Jess.
Trained by Marlon Quezada, Rg Lethal Knight has one win from three starts for owner Rancho Las Gaviotas. Veronica Kawanankoa bred the four-year-old gelding out of Pretty Lethal by First Down Dash.
Second favorite to win on 5-2 early odds is Hes Genuine, who will start on the outside under Alejandro Gomez. The son of Corona Cartel was by McColee Land & Livestock out of the Dash Ta Fame mare Our Genuine Delight.
Trainer Carlos Perez conditions Hes Genuine, who has earned over $25,000 for owner Cuadra Santa Elena. The sorrel gelding has lit the board nine of ten starts with two career wins.
The final stakes of the night will be the 21st annual Derby Garanones. CLICK HERE for the list of fastest qualifiers.
After two scratches, Dk Torito Cartel and Dk Fuego De Danny, only eight finalists will run in the 350-yard stakes. Fastest qualifier from the trials, Princesa Bury, who remains undefeated in her last eight starts, leads the pack as the morning line favorite.
The three-year-old daughter of Danny Cartel will be aiming to win her second Derby of the season. Princesa Bury has won nine of her 11 lifetime starts, including the Mexico Derby this year, and has earned over $166,000 for owner Cuadra Guillen.
Trainer Rene Gomez will saddle Princesa Bury from post position number three. The 2024 champion two-year-old filly bred by Armando Leon out of Princesa Bury Buu by One Dashing Eagle is the early favorite on 5-2 odds.
Another filly to watch for is Cc First Dance, the second early favorite to win at 3-1 odds. Trainer Marlon Quezada conditions the daughter of First Dinastia for Rancho Las Gaviotas, who also qualified, Cc Regal Jack.
Jockey Huberclein Gomez, who qualified Cc First Dance with the second fastest time in the trials, will return for the mount in the finals, drawing post position four. The sorrel filly bred by Carlos Espinosa has six wins from ten starts and over $37,000 in the bank.
