LOS ALAMITOS, CA— APRIL 25, 2015—An allowance field headed by Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby finalist Walk The Catwalk and Grade 3 El Primero Del Ano Derby finalist Cold Cartel and a pair of wide open events for 2-year-olds will headline the racing action on Sunday night at Los Alamitos. First post for the eight-race card is 5:20 p.m.

Racing for Steve Burns and trained by Mike Casselman, Walk The Catwalk will come into the $11,025 allowance event at 350 yards as one of the horses to beat after winning at a similar level on March 28. The son of Walk Thru Fire won that allowance event thanks to a nice start and a strong rally in the final 100 yards. Previously, Walk The Catwalk had to settle for seventh place following a very troubled journey against a strong field in the Winter Derby Carlos Huerta will be aboard the colt from post one.

As troubled trips are concerned, Rosalinda Gonzalez’s Cold Cartel had a nightmare of a race in the El Primero, as the gelding finished last, but was moved up to ninth following a disqualification. Trainer Mario Garcia and jockey Santiago Mendez will hope for a clean journey this time around for the winner of an allowance race back on February 14. Symbol Of Freedom, Scuba Doo and Closing Time will also race.

Juveniles will be in action in races six and seven on Sunday. A group of 2-year-old fillies headed by EG High Desert Farms’ Share Builder will compete in the sixth race at 300 yards, while the boys will compete in the seventh at the same distance. Genetically Gifted, a half brother to champion Five Bar Cartel, will race from along the rail in the seventh. He’ll face JB Perry, a colt by Mr Jess Perry and out of PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and La Primera Del Ano Derby winner Jumpn Beduino.
