GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–OCTOBER 19, 2023–JT True Grit, a homebred son of Capo de Capi owned and trained by Jeffrey Tyer, is the 9-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday's 350-yard, $125,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Lone Star Park.

JT True Grit has won his last two starts, including the October 1, $92,000 John Deere Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge. The gelding has banked $99,577 from eight races, and his record includes a third-place finish, 1 1/2 lengths behind winner Separate Butallright, in the July 22, $158,000 Speedhorse Futurity (G3) at Fair Meadows at Tulsa.

JT True Grit drew post 2 and will be ridden by Roman Cruz.

The Wishbone Partnership's Acapulco Bay will be making her first start since August 19, when she ran second, a head behind winner MFS Cheerio, in the 350-yard, $145,000 John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge (G3) at Ruidoso Downs. The filly has banked $95,246 from eight outs in Oklahoma and New Mexico, and she was a finalist in the 330-yard, $804,000 Remington Park Futurity (RG1) in April.

Acapulco Bay drew post 5 and will be ridden by Jimmy Dean Brooks for trainer Eddie Lee Willis.
