HOLLAND, TX—MARCH 22, 2014—AQHA Racing Champion Dash Thru Traffic was euthanized Friday at the age of 24. The winner of the 1992 All American Futurity had suffered a breeding accident several years ago and his owner's, Charlie and Debbie Therwanger, had pensioned him at Ronnie and Bonnie Stewarts Double S Farm near Holland, Texas where he lived out his life comfortably.
"Charlie and Debbie Therwanger loved this horse," Ronnie Stewart said Saturday morning. "They spared no expense making sure this horse lived a long and comfortable life."
The Therwangers' purchased Dash Thru Traffic for $32,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City and campaigned him in the name of TNT Racing.
"We had seen him at Vessels (in California) a few months earlier and knew we wanted him," Charlie Therwanger said. "He was a big long striding horse that didn't hit his best until the All American Futurity."
