Xo Kate Gets Second Stakes Victory of 2011 at Louisiana Downs Saturday

BOOSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 29, 2011—The multi-talented 6-year-old Xo Kate scored another stakes victory, her fourth lifetime and second of 2011, with a smashing 1 ½ length victory in the $15,000 Swift Stakes at Louisiana Downs on Saturday.

Under a capable ride by Martin Rubalcava, Xo Kate covered the 350 yards in :17.623 seconds, a 98 speed index at the Northwest Louisiana race course.

Winning owner Noel Balderas, trainer Isidro Flores and jockey Martin Rubalcava accept the Swift Stakes trophy.

Isidro Flores saddles the daughter of champion and world champion sire Stoli for owner Noel Balderas. The $9,000 winner's purse on Saturday moves the gray miss earnings to just under $200,000.

Bred in Texas by Myrna Rheudasil and Burnett Ranches, Ltd., Xo Kate kicked off her 2011 campaign on January 8th with a victory in the $20,000 Harrah's Distaff Stakes. A winner of nine races from 33 starts, the mare also won the 2010 Harrah's Distaff(G3).

Heath Taylor saddled Quick Brew, a 5-year-old Corona Cartel horse, who put in a solid effort to finish second. Racing for Adam Jasso Seijas, the sorrel was ridden by Raul Ramirez, Jr. Bred in Oklahoma by Walt Fletcher, Quick Brew has earned nearly $100,00.

After boring out at the break, Dale Rogers' Haystretcher finished a nose back for third. The Heza Fast Dash 6-year-old is trained by Kathy Roohms and ridden by Rafael Fernandez. He earned $1,650 for the effort. Mark Langford bred the gelding in Louisiana.

Completing the Swift Stakes field were Mr Vikenson, Mis Snow Royal, Hotlittlechica, Lexy O Toole and Without Prejudice.
