Cartels Panhandle won the $6,500 Idaho Bred Overnight Futurity (not black type) at Oneida County Fair Saturday.

MALAD, ID—AUGUST 8, 2026—Cartels Panhandle proved much the best Saturday afternoon at the Oneida County Fair, defeating a field of Idaho-bred 2-year-olds in the $6,500 Idaho Bred Overnight Futurity (not black type) at 300 yards.

Breaking from the inside under jockey Brayan Juarez, Cartels Panhandle went immediately to the front and held off Bw Stuff Got Easier by a neck at the wire. The chestnut filly completed the 300 yards in 15.397 over a fast racing surface, earning a 98 speed index and the $3,900 winner's share of the purse.

Cartels Panhandle's boosted her career record to two wins in five starts and increased her earnings total to $15,099. She was a finalist in the Bitterroot Futurity and the Idaho Cup Futurity earlier this year.

Sergio Canales trains Cartels Panhandle for owner and breeder Merlin F. Sharp. The Idaho-bred daughter of Iba Cartel is out of Panhandle Ms, by Hez Our Secret.

Bw Stuff Got Easier finished a neck behind the winner to collect $1,625 for second. Ridden by Raphael Romero for trainer Guy Weeks, the bay filly earned a 97 speed index.

Owned by Betty Weeks and Boyd and bred in Idaho by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks, Bw Stuff Got Easier is a daughter of Jess Got Easier from Bw de Stuff, by The Flight Stuff.

Stablemate Bw Little Wagon finished another one-half length back in third, earning $975. Luis Collazo rode the brown filly for trainer Guy Weeks.

Owned by Boyd Weeks and bred in Idaho by Thomas Boyd and Betty Weeks, Bw Little Wagon is by Jess Got Easier out of Bw Easy Wagon, by Wagons West.

Completing the field was Yr Bruno, fourth; M E Ec Money, fifth, and Miss Smokn Mirror, sixth.

The $6,500 Idaho Bred Overnight Futurity was restricted to 2-year-old Idaho-breds and is not a black-type stakes.
