TW Streakin Cowboy and jockey Diego Villamil Bocanegra set a new stakes record while dominating the $34,000 Paul Martin Overnight Stakes Tuesday at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

SHELBYVILLE, IN–AUGUST 4, 2026–There was no doubt who was the one to beat in the third running of the $34,000 Paul Martin Overnight Stakes Tuesday, August 4 at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The extremely talented TW Streakin Cowboy and Diego Villamil Bocanegra took control early and never looked back, posting the 350-yard sprint in a time of :17.510, establishing a new stakes record for the Martin Stakes, named in honor of former Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana President and longtime trainer, owner, and breeder Paul Martin.

TW Streakin Cowboy rallied out of the gate with authority, taking over from the first stride. Cynter of Attention and Irving Moncada also had a good break from the center of the track, but could not get ahead of TW Streakin Cowboy, who continued to increase his lead throughout the sprint. Suzys Kristine and Giovani Vazquez Gomez were also vying for a top spot early in the race. In the end, TW Streakin Cowboy was a winner by one and one-half lengths under wraps by Villamil Bocanegra. Suzys Kristine was second by a neck over Lynard and Isidro Banuelos, who closed gamely on the far outside for third in the four-horse photo.

TW Streakin Cowboy was the heavy favorite, paying $2.10 for the win. The three-year-old son of Flying Cowboy 123 is a homebred, owned by breeder Thomas Wylie. The sorrel gelding is trained by Natasha Perez and is now five for eight in his career with only one of those starts back of second place. He now has four stakes victories. With the win in the Martin Overnight Stakes, his career bankroll increased to more than $287,000.

Martin, a member of the QHRAI Hall of Fame, passed away in 2023. His daughter, Shawna, and wife, Julia, were trackside to assist with the trophy presentation as well as providing a bouquet of flowers to Thomas Wylie’s wife, Tammy. Martin is also a member of the Indiana Horse Racing Association Hall of Fame for making an impact on the sport of Quarter Horse racing during his career
