Chillin With Peeps and jockey Cassandra Jeschke win the $41,777 Ontario Bred Derby at Ajax Downs on July 1.

AJAX, CAN–JULY 1, 2026–Chillin With Peeps and jockey Cassandra Jeschke won the $41,777 Ontario Bred Derby at Ajax Downs, covering 300 yards in :15.390 and earning a 100 speed index. Breaking from post seven, the sorrel filly quickly took command and drew off to win by one-half length.

A homebred owned and trained by Chantelle Bourgeois, Chillin With Peeps is sired by Rushago and out of the Look At Magics Form mare Shake It Twice.

The victory improved her record to 4-3-1-0 and the $17,228 winner's share of the purse increased her earnings to $41,788. She also won the Alex Picov Memorial last season.

Suit Up and jockey Helen Vanek finished second after tracking the winner throughout. The gelding completed the distance in :15.470 with a 97 speed index and was clearly second best.

 Owned by Rick Crispi and trained by Scott Reid, Suit Up was bred by Scott Reid and Carly Furlonger. The son of Makin An Effort is out of the Special Leader mare Bajillion and now sports a 6-2-1-1 record with earnings of $22,812. Still seeking his first stakes victory, he was fifth in last year's Alex Picov Memorial Futurity.

Alabama Mooonshine and jockey Ramiro Castillo finished third, stopping the timer in :15.571 for a 93 speed index. After breaking from the rail, the filly stayed in contention throughout and made a good effort for show.

Owned and bred by Marie Broadstock and trained by Bob Broadstock, Alabama Mooonshine is by Look At Magics Form and out of the Coronas Leaving You mare Ms Dashin Corona. She now has a record of 7-1-3-2 with earnings of $34,297. Her previous stakes placings include runner-up finishes in the Ontario Bred Futurity and Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity, along with a fourth-place finish in the Alex Picov Memorial Futurity.

Agent Ice finished fourth after racing extremely wide. Shake Em Alice was fifth, followed by Haaave You Met Karma, Ef Cartel Rush and Cold And Sassy to complete the order of finish.
