BELCOURT, ND–JUNE 28, 2026–Ac Heading South proved best in a determined stretch battle Sunday afternoon, defeating Effort Sixes by three-quarters of a length to capture the $17,970 Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity for North Dakota-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses at Chippewa Downs.

The bay gelding stopped the timer in 16.678 seconds over 300 yards on a "good" racing surface.

Owned by Oakley Davis, bred in North Dakota by his trainer Mark M. Allery, Ac Heading South is a 2-year-old by Love The Way You Fly out of Dolla Daze, by Chicks Regard. Carlos Banda was aboard for the victory, worth $8,985 from the $17,970 purse, boosting his lifetime mcark to two wins in five starts and $13,734 earned.

Effort Sixes finished a game second, beaten three-quarters of a length after competing throughout the race. The bay filly is by Cartels Sixes from Lizs Effort, by Proudest Effort. She races for Kaleb Shipman, who also trains the filly bred in North Dakota by Joe H. Peltier. Aram Martinez had the riding assignment as Effort Sixes earned $3,594. No public sale information was available.

Another neck back in third was Travelin Cc, who closed gamely under Scott Bethke. The bay filly is by Travelin Miracle out of Copy Captain, by Captain Toshky. She is owned and trained by Raheem Ali, and was bred in North Dakota by Doug Demontigny. Travelin Cc collected $1,797 for the effort. No public sale information was available.
