CHIPPEWA FALLS, ND—JUNE 13, 2026—Im Rip surged late to collar the pacesetting Andres Jode at the wire and capture the $5,750 North Dakota Bred Stakes (not black type) Saturday afternoon at Chippewa Downs.
The 350-yard event for state-bred runners four years old and up was contested over a good track under cloudy skies with a 16 mph crosswind.
Ridden by Bernardino Marquez for owner and breeder Tyrell Moody and trainer Cole Wilson, Im Rip broke from post three and tracked the early pace before gaining ground in the final strides to win by one-half length in a time of :17.846, while posting a 96 speed index. The four-year-old gelding returned $6.20 to win as the second choice in the wagering.
A homebred son of Rip Tide out of the winning Cowboys Cartel mare Cowboywannab, Im Rip improved his career record to 14 starts with eight wins and earnings of $40,189 after collecting the $2,875 winner's share of the purse. The gelding's resume already includes victories in the NDQHRA Futurity and the Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity.
Heavy favorite Andres Jode, under Scott Bethke, broke sharply and set the pace from the start but was caught in the final jump to finish second.
Owned by Steve Leonard and trained by Perry Cavanaugh, the four-year-old gelding was bred by Rodney Smith. He is by Kiss Me Jody and out of the stakes-placed Dashing Jess Perry mare Andres Okey Dokey.
With the runner-up effort, Andres Jode's record now stands at 12 starts with two wins, three seconds, three thirds, and earnings of $12,942.
Avas Sparkle finished another four lengths back in third under Dallin Herman after racing competitively throughout.
Owned and bred by John Bubel and trained by Jamie Herman, the five-year-old mare is by Dashing Jess Perry and out of the stakes-placed Such Easy Cash mare Jennas Easy Cash. She now sports a career mark of 12-4-2-1 with earnings of $15,814.
Zoeys Star Sparkles, who broke well before fading late, finished fourth, while Shesa Okeydokey Jess completed the order of finish.
