MEXICO CITY, MEX–JUNE 7, 2026–Cuadra Alpuyeca's Dk Paleta Dulce set the fastest qualifying time from two days of trials contested June 6-7 for the $143,580 Garanones Futurity(RG2) at Hipodromo de las Americas.
Trained by Antonio Garcia Carranza, Dk Paleta Dulce won the fifth trial on the first day from gate to wire by one length while posting the fastest clocking of the weekend. Ridden by Alejandro Gomez Lopez, she covered the 300 yards in 15.178 seconds, earning a 93 speed index.
The daughter of leading sire Danny Cartel was bred by Cuadra La Presita from the Jess Good Candy mare Good First Choice. Coming off a seventh-place finish in the Mexico Futurity, this is her second victory from three starts and she now has $13,00 in the bank.
The fastest qualifier from the second day of trials was Rg Magic Heart, who secured the second-fastest overall time of 15.187 seconds. Ridden by Mario Alberto Lopez Marmolejo, the gelding led throughout his trial heat and crossed the wire one length in front of Kc Jess Krash, who is a sister to last year’s triple crown winner Rey De Manny.
The son of Swingin Corona was bred by Criadero San Sebastian from Visual Magic, a Corona Cartel mare. Trained by Alfredo Rabanal, Rg Magic Heart earned his first career victory from two starts and goes into the final with $6,000 in the bank for owner Rancho Las Gaviotas.
Third-fastest qualifier Dk Tsunami Cartel delivered one of the most dominant trial performances of the weekend. Piloted by Nestor E. Duran for owner Cuadra San Martin, the Luis Enrique Cruz trainee cruised to a three-length victory while recording a 15.203 clocking and earning a 92 speed index. I am running a few minutes late; my previous meeting is running over.
Coming off a fifth-place finish in the Mexico Futurity, the son of Danny Cartel broke his maiden with the trial victory and now has $13,000 in career earnings from three starts.Dk Tsunami Cartel was bred by Cuadra La Presita out of Jess A Reason V, a daughter of Good Reason SA.
Three breeders were responsible for all ten finalists. Cuadra La Presita led the way with five qualifiers, while Abelardo Gallegos bred four finalists and Criadero San Sebastian was represented by one qualifier.
Trainer Luis Enrique Cruz had the strongest showing among conditioners with five finalists, including Dk Tsunami Cartel, Dk Kiss My Danny, Dk Francia, Kc Jess Krash and Kc Nocturno. Antonio Garcia Carranza qualified three finalists, while Alfredo Rabanal and Jose Baltazar Aguilar each advanced one runner.
Nestor E. Duran led all jockeys with five qualifiers, while Alejandro Gomez Lopez accounted for three finalists. Mario Alberto Lopez Marmolejo and Jose Manuel Cisneros each qualified one finalist.
Owner Cuadra San Martin will be represented by four finalists in the June 28 championship, the largest contingent among all owners. Cuadra Alpuyeca and Cuadra La Presita each qualified two runners, while Rancho Las Gaviotas and Rancho M Gonzalez each secured one berth in the Grade 2 final.

US CARTEL TOPS $15,721 GARANONES FUTURITY CONSOLATION QUALIFIERS
Us Cartel posted the fastest qualifying time to the $15,721 Garanones Futurity Consolation, leading a group of preferred invites from two days of 300-yard trials conducted June 6-7.
The consolation is made up of the second five fastest qualifiers from each day of trials. A tie for the final berth developed on the second day of trials when Dk Fosse Gold and Dk Hipnotica each stopped the timer in 15.557 seconds. A coin toss will determine which runner advances to the June 28 final.
The top three qualifiers to the consolation all came from the opening day of trials, led by Us Cartel, who finished third in the fifth trial behind fastest Garanones Futurity qualifier Dk Paleta Dulce.
Racing for JFR Ranch, the gelding covered 300 yards in 15.351 seconds. The son of Krash Cartel broke his maiden in his last out and now has a record of 1-2-3 from three starts. He was bred by Abelardo Gallegos, out of Us Chicks, by Chicks Regard. Gregorio Alberto Razo trains the fastest qualifier, who was ridden by Jesus Loredo.
Br Esmeralda posted the second-fastest time to the consolation after winning the first trial on Day 1 from gate to wire and now has two victories from four starts under her belt. Ridden by Emmanuel Eduardo Mendez, the filly stopped the clock in 15.377 seconds for trainer Cesar Rueda and owner Cuadra 3 Compadres. The daughter of Jess Lips was bred by Lizzette M Mora out of Br Southern Ruby, by Southern Corona.
Third-fastest qualifier Dk Shazoom also came out of the first day of trials, finishing third in his heat behind Dk Reason Baby and Peligrosita Eagle, both of whom qualified to the Garanones Futurity final. The Cuadra Guillen runner completed the distance in 15.450 seconds under Alejandro Gomez for trainer Hernan Missael Romo. Bred by Cuadra La Presita, the son of Bullish One is out of Tylers Zoomin, by Shazoom and will be looking to break his maiden in the finals.
Four breeders are represented among the preferred invites, including the two runners tied for the final berth. Cuadra La Presita leads all breeders with five, followed by Abelardo Gallegos with three. Lizzette M Mora and Rancho Hda Santiago each bred one.
Pending the coin toss, JFR Ranch is the only owner with two listed preferred invites, led by fastest qualifier Us Cartel and tied finalist Dk Hipnotica. All other owners are represented by one runner.
