GILLETTE, WY–JUNE 5, 2026– Six trials were contested Friday at Wyoming Downs to determine the ten finalists for the $75,000-added 307 Horse Racing Wyoming Bred Derby, which will be contested June 21 at 350 yards.

Topping the qualifiers was Lana Matt's Surfinoverthemoon, who turned in a wire-to-wire victory in the sixth and final trial while posting the fastest qualifying time of :17.529. The brown gelding was ridden by Jacob Cardenas and trained by Jess Matt.

Bred by Walter Larson, Surfinoverthemoon is sired by Corona Surfer and out of the stakes-winning mare Dashmetothemoon, by Mr Jess Perry.

The gelding now sports a record of 11 starts with three wins, four seconds, and two thirds while banking $40,875. He entered the trials off a third-place finish in the Dan Lockie Derby and remains in search of his first stakes victory.

Also piloted by Jacob Cardenas and conditioned by Jess Matt, In The Vee won the second trial and recorded the second-fastest qualifying time of :17.550. The sorrel gelding is owned by Eddie Jensen and was bred by Dan and Kim LaPierre. He is by Junior June Bug and out of the Brindis Por Cayenne mare Brindis Secret.

In The Vee has compiled an impressive record of 11 starts with seven wins, one second, and one third while earning $151,413. Among his accomplishments are victories in last year's WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity and Bucking Horse Sale Futurity.

Third on the qualifying list was Kcross Lever Action, who captured the opening trial and stopped the timer in :17.552. Owned by BDS Performance Horses, the sorrel filly is trained by Skyler Greene and was ridden by Jayden Ironeyes.

Bred by Mike Lipp, Kcross Lever Action is sired by Pistol Packin Perry and out of the stakes-winning Coronas Velvet mare VVR Dazzling Corona.

The filly has earned $21,222 from nine starts while posting a record of 2-2-1. She is still seeking her first stakes win after previously qualifying to both the WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity and the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity.

The final of the 307 Horse Racing Wyoming Bred Derby will be contested on Saturday, June 21, at Wyoming Downs.
