ALBUQUERQUE, NM–MAY 31, 2026–Three trials were contested May 31 at The Downs of Albuquerque to determine the ten finalists for the $74,781 Ruidoso Maiden Stakes. The 350-yard final for eligible maidens will be contested June 13.
Leading the qualifiers is Get Gone 123, who captured the second trial in the fastest qualifying time of 17.120 seconds while earning a 101 speed index.
The gelding was ridden by Francisco Zamora for trainer John Stinebaugh and is bred and owned by J and SM, Inc. Sired by champion Flying Cowboy 123 and out of the graded stakes-winning Desirio mare Wild Mares Milk, Get Gone 123 improved his record to 6-2-2-1 with earnings of $28,051.
Candy Baby posted the second-fastest qualifying time after a strong runner-up effort in the same trial, stopping the clock in 17.202 seconds with a 97 speed index.
The $110,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate was ridden by Esgar Ramirez for owner-trainer Michael Valenzuela.
Bred by Tyler and Naia Graham, the filly is by champion sire Jess Good Candy and out of the winning PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Paradice City, a half-sister to two-time champion Kiss My Hocks ($1,199,385). Candy Baby now owns a record of 6-0-2-0 with earnings of $6,526.
Third-fastest qualifier Gold D also emerged from the second trial, finishing third while recording a time of 17.224 seconds and a 97 speed index.
The homebred filly races for Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC and is trained by Clinton Crawford.
Sired by champion Uncle D and out of the Gold Case mare All About Gold, Gold D has compiled a record of 5-0-1-2 with earnings of $3,850.
