Cyber Buzz Tops Desert Classic Futurity Trials at Turf Paradise

PHOENIX, AZ–APRIL 6, 2026–Trials for the $25,000-added Desert Classic Futurity were run April 6 at Turf Paradise.

Cyber Buzz posted the fastest qualifying time of :15.356 seconds, winning her trial by 2 1/2 lengths while earning a 104 speed index. The filly brushed at the start, quickly took control, and kicked away late for a decisive victory.

Bred by Thomas Scheckel, Cyber Buzz is owned by Alex Torres-Casas, trained by Alex Torres-Casas, and was ridden by Francisco Zamora. An $8,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale purchase, she is sired by leading sire Cyber Monday, whose progeny have earned more than $1.3 million from limited crops.

She is out of the Apollitical Jess mare Hunny Bee, a full sister to Champion of Champions (G1) winner Apollitical Pence ($1,867,319). The female line also includes champions Jess Good Candy ($2,014,703) and Chasing AJ ($907,069), along with AQHA Dam of Distinction Rock Candy SA.

Cyber Buzz remains undefeated in two starts.

Raising Tell recorded the second-fastest qualifying time of :15.412 seconds, posting a 102 speed index while winning the opening trial. The gelding broke in third, drifted inward, and dueled to the wire, getting up narrowly for the win.

A homebred for Wells Racing LLC, Raising Tell is trained by Matthew Fales and was ridden by Blake Nunnally. He is sired by champion Tell Cartel and is out of the Corona Cartel mare Crazin, a winner and stakes finalist. The effort marked his first win from two starts.

Johnnyapplespeed secured the third-fastest qualifying time of :15.420 seconds, also earning a 102 speed index. The colt dueled throughout and was narrowly defeated late, finishing second in his trial.

Owned and bred by Fernando Canales, he is trained by Adolfo Armendariz and was ridden by Jacob Enriquez. A $42,000 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Sale repurchase, he is sired by leading sire Big Daddy Cartel and is out of the One Sweet Jess mare Sheza Sweet Fire.

The colt is a half-brother to stakes winners Hes My Sweetheart ($90,300) and Sweet Fire Wes ($84,678), with the female family tracing back to champion Queen For Cash ($482,932).
