OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–ºMARCH 27, 2026–The early money was smart money on Eye the Cartel as the 4-year-old mare went off as the 9-5 betting favorite and proved her worth, getting to the wire a half-length in front to win the featured allowance race Friday night at Remington Park.

Under the guidance of jockey Jesus Ayala, Eye the Cartel hit the front in the 350-yard race almost right out of the gate and never looked back to reward her backers. The Kevin Goodnight trainee covered the distance in :17.391 on the fast track, good for a 95 speed index with a strong tailwind.

The Oklahoma-bred mare by Tell Cartel, out of the Tres Seis mare Sparklin Eyes, paid $5.80 to win, $3.60 to place and $2.80 to show. She won for the fourth time in her career for owner Brookelyn Owens of Muldrow, Okla. The trip to the winner’s circle was worth $20,865 from the $37,400 allowance purse. The race was for 3-year-olds and older that had not won a race since Sept. 27, 2025 or had not won four races lifetime.

Eye the Cartel, bred by Ron Lyles, improved her record to 12 starts, four wins, three seconds and one third for a bankroll of $70,251. She was a $16,000 purchase from the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale of 2023 in Oklahoma City.

Political Motions (4-1 odds) was the runner-up, finishing a neck ahead of third-place runner Nine One Won (9-2).

Eye the Cartel’s last win came in the trials at Horseshoe Indianapolis last fall on Oct. 2, 2025. She was fractious in the gate of the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana final and wound up running ninth, beaten 2-1/4 lengths. This was her second win at Remington Park in six tries and she improved at 350 yards to 4-1-3-0.

Remington Park racing continues Saturday, March 28 with a pair of American Quarter Horse Association Challenge stakes events, including the Grade 2 Q-Racing Video Remington Distance Challenge and the Grade 2 Remington Championship Challenge. The first race Saturday is at 6pm. Racing begins Sunday at 4pm. All times are Central.
