SELMA, TX–MARCH 25, 2026– Retama Park conducted a 17-race schooling session on March 25, giving horsemen another opportunity to evaluate 2-year-olds ahead of the 2026 Quarter Horse racing season.
A total of 124 juveniles competed at 250 yards in the non-pari-mutuel races, which are designed to provide early gate experience under race-like conditions.

Mr Mallard Hocks posted the fastest time of the day, stopping the clock in :13.5 seconds. The gelding is owned by Francisco Urteaga, trained by Robert Touchet, and was ridden by Luis Vivanco.
He is sired by the current #1 leading sire of two-year-olds, Kiss My Hocks, and is out of the Struttin To Beduino mare Miss Mallard Struts, a stakes-placed runner in the French Quarter Stakes. He is a half-brother to LQHBA Breeders Derby-RG3 winner Mr Fast Mallard and from the family of stakes winners Mr Mallard SI 111 ($573,726), T Boy C SI 104 ($250,109), and Toast To Mallard SI 104 (110,133).
Soaring Lark 123 recorded the second-fastest time, clocking :13.6 seconds. The filly is owned by Alejandro Moya, trained by Noe Sanchez, and was ridden by Alejandro Ochoa.
She is sired by champion Flying Cowboy 123 and is out of the PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Larks Special, a half-sister to stakes winner First Ginlark ($71,347). The female line also includes stakes winners Jay Number 7 ($229,961), Ginlark ($47,209), and Lark Smith ($32,180).
JP Tempting Jewel matched the second-fastest time of :13.6 seconds. The filly is owned by JP Quarter Horses, trained by Fernando Lopez, and was ridden by Victor Manuel Urieta, Jr.
She is sired by champion Kiss My Hocks and is out of the Tres Seis mare TH La Jolla Seis, a graded stakes finalist. Her pedigree includes champions Separate Fire ($631,250), Stylish Jess BR ($804,298), and Flash And Roll ($1,710,718).
The Retama Park schooling races continue to serve as an important early-season proving ground as two-year-olds begin preparing for their upcoming pari-mutuel debuts later this spring.
