OPELOUSAS, LA–DECEMBER 20, 2025– Full Moon Desire stamped herself as one of the leading two-year-old fillies in the region on Saturday, December 20, when she went wire to wire to capture the $305,000 EVD Futurity (RG2) at Evangeline Downs. The Texas-bred filly covered the 400-yard distance in 20.054 seconds while earning the $153,978 winner’s share of the purse.
Breaking sharply from post five under Victor Manuel Urieta Jr. and racing into an 8 mph headwind, Full Moon Desire seized command immediately and never relinquished the lead. She dug in through the final yards to hold Cyber Sass by a half-length, with JLC Show Time finishing another half-length back in third. The winning effort earned an 89 speed index over a fast track.
Full Moon Desire qualified to the EVD Futurity final from the November 21 trials, where she edged Cyber Sass by a neck in their trial while posting the fastest qualifying time of the night. Cyber Sass finished second in the same trial, while JLC Show Time advanced from a separate trial after closing strongly late.
Full Moon Desire is a sorrel filly by Dash For Cash Futurity (G1) winner Chilitos out of the winning Desirio mare Mystical Desire. Trained by Ramiro Aboytes-Suarez for Leviram Racing LLC, she was bred by Juan M. Jr. and Jairo Lozano. A $11,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate, the filly improved her career record to 6-4-0-0. She previously captured the Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge (G3) in May and was a finalist in the AQHA Juvenile Championship Stakes (G2). The victory boosted her lifetime earnings to $224,673.
Finishing second was Cyber Sass, a filly by Ruidoso Futurity (G1) winner Cyber Monday out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Sass Me, a stakes winner and Grade 1 stakes-placed runner in the La Primera Del Año Derby and Los Alamitos Winter Derby. Trained by David Bustamante and ridden by Leonardo Rodriguez, the $75,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate finished strongly and now holds a career record of 6-1-3-1 with earnings of $65,152. She remains in search of her first stakes victory.
JLC Show Time finished in third after overcoming early trouble. The filly is by SS Samson out of the unraced One Sweet Jess mare One Sweet Master. Trained by Jesus Huitron Lira for owner Esteban G. Lopez and ridden by Pedro Chavarria Espinosa, she now has a career record of 8-2-3-2. A $5,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate, JLC Show Time previously finished second in the Big Easy Futurity at Delta Downs in August and now has earnings of $79,003.
Completing the order of finish were A Maverick, Jp Roman Train, Feenom, Unlimited Candy, Jess A Good Angel, Remarkable Cowgirl, James Sin Tacha, and Jess Telling Beau.
