Alamos draws clear late to win the $100,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) at Zia Park on Sunday.

HOBBS, NM–DECEMBER 14, 2025– Alamos delivered a sharp front-running performance Sunday afternoon at Zia Park, kicking clear late to win the $100,000 Lovington Stakes (G2) for 3-year-olds and upward.

Ridden by Christian Ramos, Alamos broke alertly and took command early before drawing off through the stretch to score by 1 1/4 lengths. The sorrel gelding completed the 400 yards in 19.027 seconds, earning a 102 speed index over a fast track. The race was contested under cloudy skies with a 5 mph headwind.

Trained by Tony Sedillo for Tungsten Racing Partnership, Alamos is by Eye Am King, the current No. 4 leading sire of 2025 money earners, and out of Anakena, a graded stakes finalist by Woodbridge. Foaled in New Mexico and bred by MJ Farms, Alamos was a $185,000 graduate of the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale. The Lovington Stakes victory earned him the $57,600 winner’s share, pushing his lifetime earnings to $120,401. He now has a career record of 15-6-0-0.

Teller Perry MRL finished second after dueling throughout the early stages. Ridden by Jorge Nieto-Saenz, the gelding is by Teller Cartel, the all-time leading money-earning son of Corona Cartel, and out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Jets. Trained by Jose DeHerrera for owner Javier M. Chavez, Teller Perry MRL has compiled a career record of 16-3-4-3 with earnings of $86,498.

Completing the trifecta was Whata Lota Boy, who overcame a troubled break to finish third under Oscar Andrade, Jr. The gelding is by Lota PYC and out of Eurapollitical Girl, a winning mare and stakes finalist by Apollitical Jess. Trained by Clinton Crawford for owner Whiting Ranch, Whata Lota Boy now holds a career record of 10-1-4-3 with earnings of $81,899.

Myy Flashn Denali, KJ Wildthang, Lil Perry Wagon, Paige, Thrillah, Mystic Paint, and Lucky Luke completed the field.
