AURORA, CO–NOVEMBER 16, 2025–Presido Pete kept his stakes roll alive on Sunday afternoon, powering home to win the $15,660 Rocky Mountain Championship at Arapahoe Park.
Ridden by Fernando Fonseca-Soto, the four-year-old colt covered the 440 yards in 22.275 seconds, posting an 80 speed index while earning $9,396 for the victory. Breaking inward and bumping at the start, Presido Pete quickly regrouped. He surged to the lead, and dug in late to hold firm by three-quarters of a length.
The sorrel colt by The Marfa Lights is out of Tahiti Wave by Wave Carver and was bred and is owned by Francisco J. Cornejo. Trained by Haley Hobbs, Presido Pete has now stacked three consecutive stakes wins in less than two months, adding the Rocky Mountain Championship to earlier scores in the Leo Beau Dash and Dolls Prodigy Stakes.

Ridden by Martin Lazalde, the three-year-old filly hit the wire a half-length behind the winner in 22.407 seconds.
Bred, owned, and trained by Gerardo Herrera, the daughter of Docs Best Card is out of Apolli by Apollitical Jess. The $16,000 Heritage Place Mixed Sale repurchase has two wins and four seconds from ten starts and has proven a consistent threat throughout her career.
Kvn Dulce Corona finished third, crossing the line half a length behind the runner-up in 22.507 seconds. The four-year-old filly is by Kvn Corona, out of Wess Country Chick by Country Chicks Man. She is bred and is owned by Jose Pena.
Trained by Jose Arjon and ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr., she ran an even race throughout. Though still seeking her maiden win from eleven starts, she previously earned a spot in last year’s Gillette Derby final.
Country Rocket Foose and Diabolical Clyde completed the order of finish. First Prize Grown Go was scratched.
