Wire Tap Holds Off V Golden Game To Capture Olympia Joe Stakes At Lone Star Park

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—NOVEMBER 8, 2025—Under champion jockey Francisco Calderon, Wire Tap fought off a determined challenge from V Golden Game to win the $15,760 Olympia Joe Stakes on Saturday night at Lone Star Park.

The 400-yard race for Paints and Appaloosas aged three and up was contested over a fast track with a light crosswind of one mile per hour. The bay gelding completed the distance in 19.611 seconds, earning a 96 speed index and the winner’s share of $8,347.

Wire Tap, bred in Oklahoma by Dan or Kaye Jones, is a 4-year-old son of leading Paint sire CRM Livewire out of Lindys Sign by Second Painted Sign. Owned by the Jones and trained by Matt Whitekiller, the gelding broke sharply and dueled throughout, digging in gamely to prevail by a head at the wire in a driving finish that showcased his consistency and grit.

A multiple stakes winner of eight races in 26 starts, Wire Tap has banked $105,113.

Runner-up V Golden Game, a 4-year-old brown gelding by CRM Livewire out of Game Hi by Game Patriot, broke alertly under jockey Victor Manuel Urieta Jr. and engaged Wire Tap from the start.

Trained by Raul Rodriguez Jr. for owner Oscar Rivera Cardona and bred by Aubrey L. Garcia, he battled stride-for-stride to the end but came up just a head short, earning $2,678 for his strong effort. A multiple stakes winner, V Golden Game has earned $92,850.

Pt Rose, a 3-year-old bay gelding by world champion Painted Turnpike out of Sister Rosie Bug by CRM Livewire, finished third under Luis L. Vivanco for trainer Edith A. Mojica and owner Three Bar T Quarter Horses.

Bred in Oklahoma by Bryan or Chuck Bowlan, Pt Rose drifted inward late but held his position to secure $1,732, pushing his earnings to $35,874.

Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $3.20 to win, $2.40 to place, and $2.20 to show on Wire Tap; $3.40 to place and $2.60 to show on V Golden Game; and $3.20 to show on Pt Rose. The $1 exacta paid $4.00, the 50-cent trifecta returned $4.70, and the 10-cent superfecta paid $1.19.

Following the top three finishers were Rosario Tijeras, Vp Wired to Win, and Moonpike in that order
