GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–NOVEMBER 1, 2025–Post-time favorite Jess Louisiana Girl held strong in a dramatic finish to win the $50,000 Yellow Rose Of Texas Stakes on Saturday night at Lone Star Park.

The 3-year-old bay filly by leading second-year-sire Chilitos scored her first victory of the season and first career stakes win, holding off Ladys Gotta Jet in a photo finish at the wire.

Under jockey Claudio Aguilar, who registered a running triple on the evening card, Jess Louisiana Girl led the field from gate to wire, clocking 19.909 seconds for 400 yards with an 88 speed index into a light crosswind. The victory was worth $29,500, boosting her career bankroll to $103,161.

Owned by Eleazar Martinez Sr. and trained by Victor Fierro, the Texas-bred filly was bred by Anahi Martinez. Jess Louisiana Girl is out of Sissy Cartel by The Louisiana Cartel. She was a $24,000 repurchase at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale.

Jess Louisiana Girl had been overdue for a big win after a string of near misses this season, finishing second in the Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes, Miss Sam Houston Stakes, and John Buchanan Memorial Stakes. She also placed third in the B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes (G2) and was a finalist in both the TQHA 250 Stakes and the Selma Stakes. From fifteen career starts, she now has three wins, four seconds, and three thirds.

Ladys Gotta Jet, a 4-year-old sorrel filly by Ec Jet One out of Lady Lilia by First Down Dash, was a tough runner-up, finishing just a head behind the winner. Ridden by Francisco Calderon for trainer John Stinebaugh, she races for and was bred by Pete A. Scarmardo.

A $42,000 repurchase at the 2022 TQHA Yearling Sale, Ladys Gotta Jet has twenty starts with six wins, three seconds, and two thirds, earning $164,756. She is a three-time stakes winner, including the Miss Sam Houston Stakes earlier this year, as well as last year’s TQHA Sale Sophomore Stakes and John Buchanan Memorial Stakes.

Chill To The Bone, another daughter of Chilitos, finished third, just a neck behind the runner-up, in 19.988 seconds. The 3-year-old sorrel filly was bred in Texas by Alejandro Moya out of Cartel Gigi by Corona Cartel. She races for owner Kate Lopez, is trained by Gilberto Gonzalez, and was piloted by Gerardo Luna.

A $16,500 purchase at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale, Chill To The Bone earned her first black type in the Yellow Rose Of Texas Stakes after competing in several major events this season, including the Dash For Cash Derby (G2) and the Sam Houston Derby (G3). She has sixteen starts with two wins, five seconds, and three thirds, earning $71,459.
