AURORA, CO—OCTOBER 5, 2025—Presido Pete fought off a determined field to capture Sunday’s $9,250 Dolls Prodigy Stakes (not black type) at Arapahoe Park.
The four-year-old sorrel colt by The Marfa Lights out of Tahiti Wave, by Wave Carver, broke sharply under jockey Fernando Fonseca-Soto and held gamely to the wire, stopping the timer in 18.150 seconds for 350 yards with a speed index of 87.
Trained by Haley Hobbs for owner and breeder Francisco J. Cornejo, Presido Pete earned $5,550 for the victory. The race was contested over a fast track with a strong 15 mph crosswind.
Last season's Lucille Rowe Derby winner, Presido Pete, has won seven of 24 starts and earned $197,272.
Country Rocket Foose, a five-year-old bay horse by Foose out of Wess Country Chick, by Country Chicks Man, finished second, one length behind the winner.

Ridden by Mauro Rodriguez for trainer Jose Arjon, the multiple stakes-placed horse earned $1,850 for owner and breeder Jose Pena. Country Rocket Foose, a consistent performer, was making another strong showing to boost his earnings to $48,657.
Mr Dash Fire, a six-year-old sorrel gelding by Dash Kicker out of Lovin M Leave M, by Separatist, completed the trifecta, finishing 1-1/2 lengths back. Ridden by Brayan Juarez and trained by owner Jesus Pena, he was bred by breeder Jesus Villalobos. The multiple stakes winner added $925 to his bankroll.
Mr Dash Fire came into the race with a win in last month’s Pen Pal Stakes at Arapahoe Park and made another steady effort to bring his earnings to $124,580
Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $4.40 to win, $4.80 to place, and $3.00 to show on Presido Pete; $4.40 to place and $2.60 to show on Country Rocket Foose; and $2.60 to show on Mr Dash Fire.
Diabolical Clyde finished fourth, Stolindream fifth, El Capitan Lew sixth, and Brindis Thrasher seventh.
