Cervezas Fire Tops Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3 Trials at Century Downs

Cervezas Fire Tops Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3 Trials at Century Downs

CALGARY, ALBERTA–OCTOBER 3, 2025–Nineteen juveniles competed in three trials Friday night at Century Downs for one of eight spots in the $45,000 (CAN)-est. Alberta Bred Futurity-RG3 to be run on October 18. All eight qualifiers emerged from trials one and three, with none advancing from trial two.

Cervezas Fire, a bay filly by Cerveza Corona, posted the fastest qualifying time after defeating Hez D Man in the opening heat. Under jockey Ricardo Moreno, she covered the 350 yards in 17.868 seconds, earning an 89 speed index.

Bred in Alberta by Charles G. Stojan and racing for owner Jerry Stojan, the William H. Leech trainee has now won three of five starts with $23,980 in earnings.

Cervezas Fire previously captured the Sale Stakes Futurity in June at Century Mile and finished fourth in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity in August. She is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Getit Hot.

Hez D Man, a gelding by Uncle D, finished a nose behind the winner with the second-fastest time of 17.870 seconds, also an 89 speed index. Owned by Commotion Creek Contracting and WT Ranches, Ltd., he was ridden by O. Amador Hernandez for trainer Buckey A. Stockwell.

Bred in Alberta by Morgan Luhoff, Hez D Man has hit the board in six of seven starts, including runner-up finishes in the Century Mile Juvenile Challenge Stakes and Sale Stakes Futurity, and a third in last month’s Canada Cup Futurity-G3. He is out of the Dealagame mare Ll Talitha and has career earnings of $27,852.

Wagon Burner 109, a gelding by Jd Wagon Boss, recorded the third-fastest clocking after winning the final trial by a head over Insta Bond. He stopped the timer in 17.886 seconds with an 88 speed index, also piloted by Hernandez for Stockwell.

Racing for Our One Bad Habit and bred in Alberta by John & Karyn Rafa, Wagon Burner 109 earned his maiden victory in the trials after competing as a finalist in the Canada Cup Futurity-G3 in September. He is out of the Jumpn Chic mare Jumpn Georgia Peach.
