GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 6, 2025—Double registered Ima Chili delivered a powerful performance Saturday night at Lone Star Park, surging clear in the final strides to win the $57,500 Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes for accredited Texas-bred three-year-olds and up.

Covering the 350 yards in 17.335 seconds with a 103 speed index, the three-year-old bay gelding handled a fast track under clear skies and a light crosswind of three miles per hour to earn the winner’s share of $35,075.

Owned by Darrell L. Hooper and trained by Zackery Rios, Ima Chili broke sharply from post five and was quickly in command under jockey Nestor Duran.

The son of leading second-crop sire Chilitos, out of the Executive Menace mare Im Not Hillary, bred by Sarah Huskey of Texas, drew off late to secure a decisive three-quarter-length victory. The talented gelding continues to solidify his reputation as one of the top Texas-bred sprinters of his generation.

A double registered AQHA/APHA, Ima Chil has won three of seven Quarter Horse starts and banked $120,593 and four of 10 Paint races with earnings of $48,469.

Earlier this year against Quarter Horses Ima Chili wont he Sam Houston 250 Stakes and the Silver Bullet Stakes.

Runner-up honors went to Jess Louisiana Girl, a three-year-old bay filly who closed strongly in the final yards to earn $9,775 for owner Eleazar Martinez Sr.

Trained by Victor Fierro and ridden by Claudio Aguilar, the daughter of Chilitos out of Sissy Cartel by The Louisiana Cartel was bred in Texas by Anahi Martinez and was a $24,000 RNA at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale. She ran gamely throughout and finished a half-length ahead of the third-place finisher. She has earned $67,761.

Hes A Jet One, a five-year-old multiple graded stakes winning gelding by champion sire Ec Jet One out of Shez Dead Serious by Swingin Jess, completed the trifecta.

Bred and owned by Pete A. Scarmardo, the John Stinebaugh trainee was piloted by Ali Rivera and earned $5,750 for his third-place effort. A $62,000 RNA at the 2021 TQHA Yearling Sale, Hes A Jet One brushed the gate initially but recovered well to secure the show position. He has won nine of 31 starts and earned $326,190.

At the windows, Ima Chili returned $7.00 to win, $4.60 to place, and $2.60 to show. Jess Louisiana Girl paid $9.20 to place and $3.40 to show, while Hes A Jet One returned $2.20 to show.

Following the top three finishers were Hollywoode in fourth, Top Cowboy fifth, Zef Lucky Seis sixth, and Th Mai Tai Tom seventh. Celena Olena was scratched.
